I have used Kleen Bore's Lead Away cloths to much satisfaction for cleaning the cylinder face of Stainless Steel L frame revolvers previously.

What concerns are there for using the Lead Away cloths on the newer Stainless steel revolvers that have the clear coat finish applied? Will the clear coat finish fail or will it assist in clean-up?

Thanks in advance for any personal experiences with this topic.

Yes, the lead away cloths will eat though the clear coat.

I use Hoppe's #9 and a brass brush to clean the cylinder face of my wife's 642. Any little bit that doesn't come off easily, just stays. It will never effect function.

Good Luck,

Joe

I use lead away patches on about 80 guns a week. Some are ss/blue/ and I also use a ss brush.I have no trouble with any of the finishes.
You can not rub too hard on your finish.

I like to get the face of the cylinder clean on my CARRY guns, but I NEVER worry about what is left after I use an old toothbrush on the cylinder face of my "range" guns. I shoot them so much that the effort would be a waste of time. If lead build-up gets thick on the range guns, then I will clean the face of the cylinder, but I don't get nutz like I do with my carry guns.
