Stainless revolver finish question

I have a stainless revolver, 629 no dash, that was overpolished in several areas. I would like to return to original type finish. I've searched under Scotchbrite and was wonering if I can blend the overpolished areas to match the original appearance?

it alll depends on 'exactly' where and how much, areas of any gun have been "over polished"....for the most part we found and have used the old standy by method of taking TWO 'Scotchbrite' pads and with the grips removed from the gun, just start wiping around and around, try and follow the original factory 'direction' of the wiping, and with time and practice, it comes out quite well, harder to try and "explain" in any drwn out way, far tooo many words and not talented enough for "youtube", but it WORKS and is very "simple"...we have undone MANY overpolished stainless guns over the years for folks..........but having been in the 'refinishing' business since the early 70's and done "thousands & thousands" you kinda get the hang of it,plus on how to use "power tools" to speedup the process..BUT I still prefer to do it by hand, LOOKS better.
Nice thing about 'stainless' steel, tough to screw things up ( unless you do use power stuff and get carried away...)
Lots of grades ( grits) of the Scotchbrite pads, but you can get by with about ANY one, just use the proper "touch" ( heavy or light...) its MORE in getting the 'direction' of the polishing, to appease the eyes.........save the draw filing and the emery ( aluminum oxide) paper for the 'experts'.
