Starbucks Dragged into Gun Control Debate

I've got a feeling that Starbucks is going to get PO'd pretty soon and ban the guns. While it was a good(?) publicity stunt at first, it's starting to go a bit too far. Of course they have a right to do it, I just don't think they're doing our cause any lasting/real good. I'd rather see CCW open for all law abiding citizens, without requiring permits.
They're pushing it to the point where it will be equivalent to yelling 'fire' in a movie theater.

I think they are trying to demonstrate that
due to the county-by-county restrictions in California, in many counties concealed permits are nearly impossible to get but the open carry is a state law so that is all they have left. On the other hand, the only way to satisfy Brady, et.al. is for all law abiding citizens to completely disarm and I doubt anyone on this forum thinks that is a good outcome.

While running errands last night, I listened to an interview with several folks about this Starbucks bru-ha-ha. One of those interviewed was the spokesman for the opencarry.org. The guy made some very good points, but, there is a time and place. And if I remember correctly, the firearm must be unloaded (what's the point in that!).
"While we deeply respect the views of all our customers, Starbucks long-standing approach to this issue remains unchanged. We comply with local laws and statutes in all the communities we serve. In this case, 43 of the 50 U.S. states have open carry weapon laws. Where these laws don't exist, we comply with laws that prohibit the open carrying of weapons. The political, policy and legal debates around these issues belong in the legislatures and courts, not in our stores."
Looks like Starbucks is not getting dragged very far into the issue --- good for them. Most corporations don't have the cajones to take a principled stand like this.
