It was advertised recently that based on annual revenue that Starbucks passed McDonalds as the highest grossing restaurant chain in the world. That seems a little ironic since they don't cook anything, they only heat up a few things in the microwave. But I guess that's the way the world is now. Uber is the largest taxi company in the world but they don't have any cars, Air BNB is the largest hotel in the world but they don't have any rooms. Amazon or Ali Baba is expected to surpass Walmart as the largest retailer in the world but they don't have any stores and not long ago Bitcoin was the largest bank in the world but they don't have any money.

That's why I don't play the stock market.

I have been a fan of Starbucks since I was in Seattle in the early '90's. A few years later they were a good customer of mine - I had a national account with them to supply the lighting fixtures for their stores. I have nothing bad to say about them. Try an Almond Mocha Latte on a crisp fall morning as a treat sometime. :)

I like to say Starbucks is for folks who don't like the taste of coffee...;):)

You could say that McDonald's was for people who don't like the taste of food.:D

They both have managed to provide an adequate product quickly and conveniently, at a price point people are willing to pay. they also were both the first really big players in their respective markets.

its like a hot, pourable candy bar.

I went to the original location as a little kid to buy loose leaf tea with my mom. I can assure you, it was NOT at the location they tout as the original location. It was nearby, but not the same place. Back then, they were about half coffee, half tea, and lots of hardware. No coffee or tea served on the premises.

The only time I was at a Starbucks, not inside mind you, was when my oldest grandson was a barista at a Starbucks in The Colonies in the Dallas Metroplex area about 10 years ago. He brought us a cup of coffee out in front where they had several tables and chairs. After a couple of sips my wife and I poured the coffee out. Too strong and bitter for our liking and we are coffee drinkers. It’s just a matter of what you get used to I suppose. Both of our grown sons and wives and our grandkids all like Starbucks coffee.

I have never been in a Starbucks or any similar coffee chain. In fact, I have not drunk a cup of coffee anywhere for at least 30 years, maybe longer. I often think about all of the money I have saved. At least in my part of town, judging by the full parking lot and drive-through lanes that I can see from the street, Black Rifle customer traffic seems much greater than the Starbuck's about a block away.
