Hi guys,

I've always been a 1911/shotgun guy but recently and due to a neighbor selling his wife's fathers gun collection I've been bitten by the Smith revolver bug! Feel like I'm off to a good start but this is like crack! I want more!!! Anyway top to bottom, 629-1, 29-2, 27-2, 28-2, and 17-2. If it's not obvious I love the longer barrels. I reload and shoot a lot, the long 8 3/8 barrels are shooters and an absolute pleasure at the range! Next on my list are N frames in 45 Colt and .41 mag. 8 3/8 of course!

That is a nice start. The difficult part for me was saving to buy a model I wanted and then buying something else in the mean time. Then what I wanted would show up and would not have the money to buy it. Make a list of what you want and save for the purchase. If something comes up on your list, get it and cross it off. You may pass up other attractive models not on you list but in the end you have what you want. When done with a list, make a new one.

Welcome to the forum. That is a very nice start. Doug627 shared some good advice with you.
I never paid attention to a S&W until I was gifted a 2 1/2" 66-1. It was love at first shot. Been at it ever since. I have bounced all over on what appeals to me. only thing consistent is barrels 4" and shorter.
Good luck staying focued.
So many Smiths so little money and time.

Welcome,

Good head start on the N frames. To me I prefer n frames in 6", 6.5" barrels in smiths in big calibers. Now I started off with a s&w target masterpiece k22/6" Barrel for the grandson, he doesn't know he has guns yet. I got him a older 22 cal pump rifle too. Then I found a s&w k38 target masterpiece 6" barrel a pre 14. Then a s&w k38 combat masterpiece 4" barrel pre m15 showed up. That about rounds me out for k series smiths.

Same here, my neighbor asked me to come over and look at a couple of guns he was selling for his wife. Those two are the 28-2 and the 17-2. Like I needed another interest....oh well, these smith's Are fantastic!

Welcome aboard from the hills of ol' Wyo.

Nice start.

You broke out of your N-frame mold with that K-22. That's a start. Now you need a Chiefs Special (J-frame), and since you like longer barrels, get a 3".

Keep havin' fun.

Welcome and I think you have a very nice start of a fine collection. I could never figure out why somebody would only want 6 shots and then have to reload gun. Then I got my first S&W revolver and figured out - because of the great accuracy 1 is all that is needed and you have 5 extra to spare. Also for range shooting 6 shots is perfect for shooting and evaluating then taking a second to reload gun and focus on next set of shots. Breaks it up nicely. Soon you will be looking into the older revolvers, as any from the 30's on through the early 60's are the finest era for wonderful craftsmanship and the best looking in my humble opinion. Enjoy and I hope you keep coming across more fine revolvers to add to the collection.

Nice grouping you have there!

Welcome aboard! You got some nice ones there. Take it from someone that knows, it's a sickness and an expensive one :) I like the long tubes too but had to let all mine go due to space considerations. Earl

wrong place at the wrong time (makes it right according to algebra). That's an awesome start and soon you'll have a safe full.

Welcome! And you're right. It is like crack. :D

Welcome. I'm a Smith fanatic also after getting some about 5 years ago. But I'm broke so I only have two. One I bought and one was given to me.

I'm the opposite of you barrel wise though. I'm drawn the the shorter barrel ones. The 6" 19 was the one given to me and I'd rather have a 4"er. I'm not overly keen on anything over 5" but to each his own. They're all pretty darned cool. The upside to the 6" 19 is is it shoots really well.

Thanks guys,

45 ACP is interesting in an N frame. I have a Ruger convertable in 45 Colt and 45 ACP. I really only load and shoot 45Colt in it though. That
being said I can crank out 45 ACP on the Dillon 650 so maybe A 25-2 is the ticket!!
