Stay away from Cabela’s!

Okay, I don't know the K-frames as well as so many of you. Let me just say that I have never seen a 6-inch Model 15 and I have never heard of nor dreamt about an 8-3/8" Model 15.

I can't really even figure out why either would exist when the Model 14 clearly covers that territory and does it with grace.

Sevens,

It's good to see you on the round side of the world, rather than just on the back and forth side.

I'm no K frame expert, but you are correct, Model 14's are classically 6" while Model 15's are classically 4". I have seen some 8 3/8" 14's before, but had never seen an 8 3/8" 15 before that day - one of the reasons I was looking at it so closely. (It also had fabulous wood on it).

Oddities are what makes this all so fun.

That would be the Cabela's at 2421 Gulf Freeway S, League City, Texas, right?:D

Nope.

Won't go there.

Nope.

Just south of Houston, right?:D

BD,

Now you know as well as I do that there are several Cabela's in Texas. There's even one in Wichita, Kansas, where I grew up. It came along long after I was gone from there - but I did get a hat there just for old time's sake.

I really wish that when people put up a gun for us to look at they would also include the caliber of the gun. Some i know but there are many i've no clue. i just spent 20 minutes looking for mod 16's and finely found one listed as .32 H&R mag. Over time we will learn them but until then that assistance would be nice.

BTW: Great deal and great looking gun. WELL DONE.

Thanks for the reminder

OP - congratulations on your new Smith & Wesson.
Please give a Range Review when you shoot it.

I think there are good Cabela's and worst Cabela's.
Ours has turned for the worst. I quit going to it.
I also quit using the Credit Card.

I have found better deals and quality items in our
other Sporting Goods and farm ranch stores.

I will, stay away from Cabela's.

The Best to you and your Endeavors.

No problems buying from Cabela's it's the selling or trading with them. An ex-employee told me that they value a trade at 60% of what they think it will sell for.

Hold tighter!

Car dealers do the same thing so I guess some people still do business there. Hurts me just thinking about it.

A couple weeks back, I went into a BassPro (owned by them, but no "Cabela's" in my area) for the first time after visiting a new shooting range (new to me, that is). The greeter at the entrance was REALLY pushy about why I should get their credit card. My philosophy is that pushiness for a product/service is a red flag of scam and I don't buy/sign up. I'm due to swing by there for ammo on my next range trip in a week. The $64,000 question in my mind is what's wrong with the credit card?

I bought my K14 there at the used gun library in Gonzales Louisiana some years back. You could see on the tag where they kept reducing the purchase price. I got mine for $425. And in their box of magazines found two single stack magazines for the wazir single stack ak-47. Had read an article on converting a Italian Carcano to 7.62x39 and these magazines were the ones used in the conversion. Had to laugh my butt off, when all the paperwork was dome the lady carried it out to the truck like it was going to blow up. Did score 500rds Swiss made 223 ammo for cheap. Frank

The problem is "Capital One"! ! ! Last year I closed my Cabelas card, of 25
+ years, because of Cap One I reported a fraudulent charge, Cap One gave me a new card. Before I received the new card there was another fraudulent charge. Cap One gave me a new number but I told them DO NOT mail me a new card! Again, another fraudulent charge! Round 4, I asked to talk to a supervisor because I was told Cap One can't investigate a fraudulent charge unless I have an active acct. The super gave me my 4th number but locked the acct. She also told me Cap One informs a "reoccurring charge" of a number change automatically! The first fraudulent charge was set up as a "reoccurring charge"! And these people control our money and propagate among us!

Nothing good in the gun library today, but they had a 4.25 Python for MSRP and plenty of .38 Special for a pre-Chicken Little price.

Cabela's has been a good source of firearms for me too over the years, the under priced ones more often than the over priced ones.
