Shot my first SC practice yesterday at my Club. Shot my old Hwy Patrol issue M-28 . Had a blast.

Also shot my 5" M-627 eight shooter , PC gun. That was even more fun.

What's THE revolver for the SC game?

627 is the gun to have. A lot of guys are shooting .38 Short Colt.

I just switched to a 929 and love it. Lots of 9mm on the market if you don't reload. Winchester White Box is about $10 per box and works great.

I'm reloading with Coated Bullets and V V N320. Nice to make it through the hole match without having to brush out the cylinders.

20 round box??? Haven't seen any factory 9x19 anywhere close to US$10/50 rd box in ages!

Much less the pre 2001-2 price of ~$6/50 retail....

I can shoot my eight shooter? I thought I was limited to six shots.

I need to look up the rules. If so....I'd happily shoot the 627 !

Revolvers can shoot 8 shots with no worry. You can even shoot Optics now. There is a separate division for it.

Found the rules online and read them last night. GTG with the 627!

Now to find some moon clips that work with all the WW .38 ammo I have. The dozen or so clips I have, unknown manufacturer...only 4 will allow the WW ammo to enter. I'm aware there are some rim variances but need to get some clips for sure.

Have a mess of Winchester as well as 1990's GI brass. would like to use them if I can.

Frank,

Good on you for finding a new game to play. I shot steel last night at a local club. I made it 617 night and used a 4" with Burris Fast Fire red dot, a different 4" with iron sights and green fiber optic front and last a 6" iron sight gun with green FO. My best times were with the iron sights. I have a problem with losing the red dot during transitions.

A friend and wheel gunner shot his 627 8-shot with 38 Short Colt brass and a 986 7-shot w/ 9mm ammo in moons.

I intend to shoot different guns each week all summer long including wheel guns, semiautos and 22 rifles. Why Not?

I have been shooting a 986 9mm for the last year, and I reload. Prior, I was shooting a .38 special Rossi that I have had for years. As to the 6 shot rule, they use that at our local club shoot, but all the state shoots it is full cylinder or 10 in a mag as far as I know. Yep, it is great fun for sure.

I'm told the 327 & M&P R8 are THE revolvers for SC. Light weight helps them track faster.

You REALLY made me laugh! MY idea as well. Going to shoot my M-58, the 4" and 6" K fames, as well as a mess of semi auto's including my HK Tactical WITH suppressor.

Even took out my seldom fired 36-6 3" that I used to carry. That and my old PPK Walther are going to get the dust blown out of them.

Time for some F U N, fun.

Iowegan,

Shot the 627 again yesterday after a 2 week hiatus, I visited my mom in NJ.

I'm in the 5-6 second area unless I screw up and fail to watch the frt sight, or make some other stupid mistake. Did shoot a few sub 5 second runs a 4.7 and a 4.20 .

I need some practice too.

Certainly FUN though.

I shot steel tonight and used a Ruger Mark III and an S&W 22 Victory. A young engineering student from Iowa State shot a 45 semiauto with a suppressor of his own design. The fun part was the gun was quiet but the steel was clanging very loudly. Next week I want to run my Springfield XD with coated lead bullets which I like....no smoke and no jacketing frags.

Good shooting to you.
