Stock Collecting Junkies Unite!

A set that "was" gaudy looking

IMG_0335-2-1.jpg

Those look like from the exposed grain and the dark color they might just be rosewood instead of the usual GA.

I believe they are RW :D those are almost identical to mine in post #51.

those smooth J's are pretty snazzy too.....if I had a J frame I would probably try to swindle them away from you :D

Top left, not a big fan of Pearl but these are the best Pearl Steerhead grips I have ever seen. K frame.

Top right, Ivory Steerhead service style off an early RM, excellent carving.

Bottom left, Superbly carved I frame Ivories.

Bottom center, K frame round butt Ivories
.
Bottom right, K frame square butt Ivory magna style.

I'm in absolute awe of those I-frame Ivories on the lower left!

They would look so spectacular on my 32 HE Snub or 38 Terrier. Thugs would be proud to be shot by me with those stocks on one of my CCWs! :D

Froggie please forgive me that was a mistype they are J frames, will correct the post.

Poking around for other reasons I came across this thread. And I know it may be 8 years too late, but:

The 1911s on the right side there I think are Griffin and Howe:

Also, since these pictures are so sadly missing, I think I can supply an updated shot of this excellent set, as I now own them (my first set of ropers).

I believe that this is going to be their home for as long as this RM and they remain in my possession.

In any case, thanks to you all for making me a grip junkie, I've really enjoyed it, and now I have so dang many of them that I look at the piles and wonder what happened.

I'm not so sure the grips on the right are G&H or Roper.
The checking pattern has a border around it. I do not recall seeing other examples of Gagnes work with the border. They can vary alot so I guess its possible but I am skeptical right now.

No no, you are right. I had my wires crossed.

Those aren't G&H, They are D.W. King:

I would agree that the 1911 grips were by King, not G&H or Gagne's work. Beautiful grips none the less... my Clark Gold Cup sure likes them ;).
