Hi everyone, I hate to have my first post be bad but today I was sadly disappointed with what the mail man delivered. I have recently purchased a model 29-10 and don't care for the stocks at all, they are far too narrow. So I have done a bunch of searches on here for different stocks and thought Altamont would be the way to go, wrong. I ordered the stocks that their website said they had in stock, well this was incorrect they needed to make them and this would take a few days. So I emailed them asking if their aftermarket target stocks were thicker than the factory rosewoods that came with the revolver. It's been 8 days and I never received an answer until today when the stocks arrived, just as narrow as the poor factory grips.
Now I own an older model 686-2 with goncalo alves stocks that I absolutely love because they are thicker. Where can I get something like this but for an N frame? I would prefer something that looks factory I.E. no scrolled checkering. I can't see paying 750+ for some coke bottles if they can be found, but at this point I am really regretting buying this 29-10 and that hard to say being that I collect S&W's.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks sir, I was looking into his grips but I do want the checker in just without the scroll work that a few grips manufacturers do. I went into the safe and checked the target grips on the 686 are over 1/4" thicker at the base than these Altamont stocks.

I have Hogue fancy wood with contrast stripe and grip cap on my 29-10 and love them. Also highly recommended are Ahrends Retro-Target grips. Gripseller on ebay has them for $70 to $90 per pair and you get to see the actual grips you will get.

Your 29 probably had the same stocks as my 25-15. I switched to 80's factory target stocks. They look better, feel better, & shoot better. Were an ebay find. Before & after. Bob
