Picked up a nice Model 19-3 4 inch at the gun show this weekend. The gun is in excellent condition, however some of the finish is worn or chipped off the target stocks. Of all the tinkering I've done on guns in general I've never removed the medallions from Smith stocks. Is there a way to remove and reinstall them without screwing up the stocks or medalliaons? Also what would be a good way to get the varnish off the stocks so I can refinish and what would be a good finish?
