I have developed the habit of removing the cylinders of my revolvers for cleaning. I take care to use gunsmith screwdrivers that fit the screw slots. On one revolver, the screwdriver blade fit the yoke retention screw SO well, SO snugly, that I had to realign the driver to get it full-depth into the slot, and in doing so succeeded in putting a fine scratch into the sideplate near the screw. Is there any way to clean this up without further marring? I think I'm going to desist from removing cylinders.

Stainless is easily fixed. Nickel maybe, blue needs the most work to look right.
I always remove the cylinder. it's really the best way to clean dirty revolvers!

Mothers mag polish for the first 2 with a little scotchbrite to redo the brushed look.
