Storing in safety deposit box?

All I had to do was call and say "I need to get in my safe deposit box."

"9:30 good?"

"Yup. See ya' then . . . "

One issue with safety deposit boxes came to light with the pandemic, access. Access required explanations and authorizations (just short of explaining what you wanted to do and why) then arrangements to be let into the bank and vault.

Make sure bank is not in flood plain! A great uncle had his lifetime coin collection in large safe deposit boxes in a major bank in Roanoke, Va. In 1985 we had a 100 year flood that flooded downtown. Safe deposit vault was in basement level of bank. Completely flooded and pretty much ruined the value of the collection.

I worked for a bank that has a branch in a flood zone. One spring they had the most of the boxes filled with muddy water. Lots of contents were ruined.
