Straightline screwdriver

I've perused the existing posts that cover the tools that came in the straightline case, so I think I already know the answer to my question: How and where would I come up with the correct screwdriver that went with the straigtline tool set? And am I searching for the proverbial needle in the haystack?

It's the only thing missing from my otherwise very nice and mostly complete straightline set.

This is a non-response response---for the most part. I have two Straightlines (one early, one late)---cases and tools for both. The screwdrivers in each case are of the "jeweler's" type, and fit the sight screws. They are not absolutely identical, but might as well be. I'm told one of them is the correct tool----and the other one isn't. As it happens, I don't recall which is which.

I speculate as follows: S&W didn't make the Straightline screwdrivers---they bought them. Their selection criteria was the blade fits the screws and the tool fits the case. They didn't necessarily buy all of them from the same vendor---or if they did, the vendor did not necessarily fill the order with absolutely identical tools. Therefore,----------------------------------you can make up the rest.

I'm going to visit with David Carroll next week. I'll take the screwdrivers along with me. I'll let you know what he says----assuming it's fit for publication in this family venue.

Straightline: A single shot target pistol circa 1925-1936---or thereabouts. Case: A stamped sheet steel hinged case which housed the pistol and the tools (screwdriver/two piece cleaning rod).
Straightline Screwdriver: The correct tool----as furnished with the gun by the factory.

Well, POO!! Even I could have told you that!! The wooden (??) handle is a dead giveaway------but yours is better looking than the right one!

It's some sort of hard red plastic...but it fits like it's supposed to be there. So, that said...still any chance its factory, i.e., your earlier thoughts on sourcing?

I suppose there's a chance, but I've never seen one of that style with a gun------------all have been as described in PM.

Just buy one of the right-size-to-fit-your-screws-and-recess jeweler's screwdrivers that are available nearly everywhere. If you want to be really picky, I see some that are virtually identical to S&W's and others that are somewhat different. Just get as close as you can and forget about it. No one but an expert is going to notice anyway, and if he says something he is a jerk.
