Anybody tried the mini-slugs by Aguila? I also saw a hollow point for smooth-bores made by them too. Wondering about the performance and quality....

Performance is down by 20-25%, just like the sizing would indicate. Iffy feed on most Mossberg's with the open shell lifter (add a piece of vacuum tubing to the tab if you want to try it). May or may not work on a 1300 Winchester, gun dependent. Ran out of patience before trying to wring them out in an 870. My guess(?) feed problems galore in any auto loader. I'm sure someone, somewhere, at sometime has managed to get them to run well out of both slides and auto's. I just didn't have the patience or interest enough to do so.
The loads true sweet spot would seem to be in a SxS or O/U application. For someone too physically challenged to use even 2 3/4". I seem to recall a test of them one time in the Box Of Truth section-but don't quote me?
JOMO?

Everything SpottedDog said! It doesn't function reliably in the Benelli Nova series either. Also just because those slugs are small, don't assume they don't have plenty of power. They will easily blast through an oak 4x4. After trying a few I just never found much practical use for them. That also applies to their other "mini" shotshell loads. Their rimfire and center fire handgun ammunition is another matter!

They do seem to feed fairly well in an 1897/1893 Winchester, and may feed fairly well in anything with a solid carrier, depending on whether what makes the shells release from the magazine are based upon length or on the rim of the shell.

However, they are very good in single barrels!

I'd like to try to reload some with some #4 or #5 shot for squirrel hunting!
A pocketful of shells would be more...shells!

Would perhaps (provided they eject reliably) make a good low recoil chamber round in a pump, or as Spot said, good in doubles. They don't feed reliably in either of my 870s. I fired a single slug into Perma-Gel from my 20" Ithaca smoothbore. The slug fully penetrated the whole block (roughly 16 1/2") and showed no sign of slowing down. Underpenetration will not be an issue with the little beasts.
