I purchased a NOS set of Eagle "Finger Position" grips for my 66-1. I've seen them on Eagle's website but these are made differently than the modern ones they show. These wrap around the top of the backstay up near the hammer but leave most of the backstay exposed. Reminds me of a woman's open-backed dress.

The wood is nice and they feel good, but I don't like the "fit". They are very secure on the frame but I don't like the gaps shown in these pics...

Is there a reason they leave the top-rear open like that? I have a Hogue Monogrip and Nill Griffe grip that have a relief for long hammer spurs, but this isn't the same.

Could these possibly be for an N frame?

I had the same thought. The box is labelled K FRAME but maybe it's meant for either. I don't have an N to try them on. I also have a set of VZ K/L Round Butt grips with the same "too big" opening at top of grip. They also look wrong but fit securely. Hmmm.

Length-of-pull

On a shotgun, "length-of-pull" is the distance from the trigger face to the butt of the stock! This distance is different for almost anyone shooting a shotgun and for the use of the gun!
On a revolver, the "length-of-pull" would be the distance from the trigger face to the backstrap of the revolver! Again, this will vary for most people! A person with short fat fingers and a thick palm the LOP needs to be rather short compared to people with long slender hands and fingers. All this is for proper placement of the trigger finger on the trigger and is determined by the amount of wood covering the backstrap! I'm in the short fat fingers category
and S&W target grips do not fit me!

First, they are N frame for sure. Second, the backstrap partially exposed was very common in old school custom grips to fit the hands of the owner, as jcelect stated.

I was thinking its or a mid-size Colt revolver.

I have known people with a lot of revolvers and the wrong grips ended up in other boxes.

Is the grips new to you or you pick them up at an Estate Sale?
