If I recall correctly, in that instance the "buyer" paid the asking price but refused to comply with a background check, for obvious reasons.

$625 on the card for a bicentennial New Model Blackhawk in .30 carbine. Management told him to give the gun back or the police would be called. He left without my revolver but not before asking for a refund of his admission fee.

Did he get a background check?

Exactly my thought. As soon as he walked away with the firearm without your consent, it was Theft of a Firearm, a serious Felony in most jurisdictions and he should have been charged as such. Some times people have to be made to understand their actions have serious consequences.

If I go into a gunstore, drop money on the counter and walk out with a gun it would be proof enough of theft that I didn't fill out the a FFL stuff.
