Some of these cars were production models or they were experimental that just never made it to the dealers show room. Here are a few of mine,,,, if only I could hit the lottery! :D

Unimog! Only time I ever rode in one was at Canyon de Chelly, AZ.
Have only ever seen one dealer, La Junta, CO.
Once I saw a short wheelbase one here in town painted Yellow.
When I saw it, I wanted it!

Local Ford dealer here got 2 GT-40's...the first one off the hauler went straight to his car collection warehouse, the second was put on the showroom floor with a large "not for sale" sign on it. It remained there a year and then it also went to his car collection warehouse. ????????? He still has both with less than 200 miles on each one.

A friend who commuted by train lent me her 2CV for a few months when I was in Paris. I absolutely loved that thing and drove it all over northern France. It was as quirky as any "modern" car I've ever seen, only rivaled by a BMW Isetta.

2CV

MotorWeek did a good review of it.

I am a big fan of American cars from the late 1940's into the early 1950's. When I hang up my motorcycle helmet for the last time, I'll have space in the garage for one. Right now I won't buy a car that old until I can have a place in the garage for it.

Even though I grew up with them, I really have no love of "Muscle Cars" from the 60's and 70's and the cars from the 80's & 90's were pretty junkie.

IIRC they used to sell Unimogs at the Wanenmacher Tulsa Arms show.

Took my granddaughter to Disneyworld when she was 5-6. It was a great vacation with her and the kid really ask for nothing? She did have a few minor requests but she really just enjoyed the fact that she was there and nanny and pop took her.
One night we were in Disney Springs and she saw this....

She then realized you could go for a cruise on the lake in it.
Her only real request was "Pop I want to go for a ride in the car that goes in the water"
So $125. later we were on an after dinner lake cruise.
It was very impressive!

OK, I have an example of an "impractical" vehicle I do own.

Always liked bikes. Back when "American Chopper" was a popular show, I got the itch, and decided to build a radical chopper myself, from scratch, so I did.

Bike is beautiful to look at, but... With a 12 inch over front end, and lots of rake, it is a difficult bike to ride at slow speeds. You have to be up on it. With no rear suspension, it rides harsh. The only give is if you lower the air pressure in the rear tire a little. Cause it sits so low, you leave a spark trail at anything resembling leaned over in a turn.

Stylish as they are, there is a reason the chopper fad ran its course, people just needed to be reminded of what was learned in the 1960's.

Mine still sits in the garage, with maybe 200 miles a year put on it. It is a blast WOT on a smooth straight road.
