Had to get out of the house this morning. Heard there was a gun show going not to far down the road so, headed that way to just, well as I said, get out of the house. Stupid guns shows! They make you drool, they make you feel fuzzy inside with all their tempting temptresses and they somehow manage to make your money just leap out of your wallet!

I ended up bringing this stray .38 Model-10 home. Not sure of the year but, still locks up pretty good and the square butt fits the hand very well.

SN#: C453XXX

very nice. Now take it apart and clean it well and remove some of the oil. Nice looking pistol

This one isn't marked on the barrel so, does anyone know if it will handle +P's?

The ejector rod looks short and I don't see any knurling at the end. I suspect it was intended for a gun with a longer barrel and was shortened to accommodate the current 2". I think it's a safe bet that either the barrel or ejector rod was replaced at some point.

So, most likely someone made this one into a snubby? I'm ok as I still like the gun and it will probably just be a bedside gun anyway.

I am no gunsmith by any standard but, have handled firearms pretty much all my life. I took a magnifying glass and looked at the pin and barrel. They don't look to have ever been touched to me but, again I'm no smith. The ejector rod however, has been modified and Chad has a pretty good eye to have seen that! Really appreciate the help and willingness to guide a person on the forum!

Some further research and help has revealed my gun dates to 1960. Also, the inside of the grips are stamped with the exact SN# as the frame. Looks like the grips are original to the gun.

I don’t know where you researched, and it’s a nitpick, but as a C453- your gun was definitely made during the first half of 1959, although it could have shipped out late. We have higher-numbered guns, in the C457- to C459-range, documented as shipping in mid-to later 1959.
