I've gone back and forth between my Shield 45 and my 1.0 M&P 40c (.357 SIG conversion) as my EDC. The 40c usually gets the nod due to its three extra rounds. If I carry the Shield, I'll take a spare magazine. Both are accurate and reliable. I know the 1.0 M&P compacts are a bit large for a lot of people, but I'm a heavy guy, so the extra weight doesn't mean that much to me. But for those who can shoot a .45, the Shield 45 may be the best carry pistol there is. It's easily carried, has a decent 7+1 capacity, and it's amazingly accurate.

I also have a Shield 9, but its accuracy suffers badly in comparison to the 45, and in my case, its reliability has been sketchy. It is now a safe queen.

I've looked at other carry guns from time to time, but so far I've not found one that's an improvement over what I already have. So thanks to Smith & Wesson for giving me two excellent choices.

I chose other semi. Currently I carry a Kimber Micro 380. If I feel the need for something bigger I carry my Sig P229

I have carried alot of these and usually (including currently) seems to go back to an airweight J frame. Either my 642 or 638. I just like feel really comfortable in DAO as a self defense deterrent without having to worry about controls. I was carrying a Sig 938 for quite awhile. The longer i carried it the less comfortable I was with the 1911 setup for civilian self defense. A "Horse for every saddle"!! J frames are time tested.

I prefer DA/SA decockers so I love my CZ RAMI BD but it's just a wee chubby for pocket-carry which for me is the most practical for light summer clothing in FL.

It's really hard to find a micro-sized DA/SA decocker so I recently added a 3rd Gen CS9 and I'm having some Tercgen grips made to allow flatter pocket carry. Still a bit bigger than I wish but it checks most of the boxes.

I really like the size, capacity and shoot-ability of my SIG P365 but I'm still not confident pocket-carrying a 5-1/2 lb trigger, even pocket holstered. Maybe I'm over-thinking it.

I would like to shoot/carry a J-frame Smith, but I find the recoil excessive and affecting accuracy for me. I have to put large rubber grips on it makes carrying concealed problematical. I carry either a Sig 365 for defense or a PPK for nostalgia.

Glock 43 in a TecGrip pocket holster. Glocks are just tools, but they keep on keeping on. And I sure don't collect Glocks as a hobby.

I have carried a number of compact or sub-compact pistols over the years. You didn't include mouse guns so I am ignoring the .25s I have carried.

J frames are a typical EDC choice for me; I got off the 642 because the 649 is hardly more noticeable and it shoots miles and miles better.

I also carry snubby K frames but that's a little chunkier in the weight game for a compact. Steel CS pistols are a little chunkier, too, but I used to carry one routinely.

I am uncertain whether or not a Walther CCP is in the P99 category or not but I guessed it might be sufficiently related. Had you included the CCP I would have checked it - I really like that gun.

When I carry a "sub" compact, it is either a gen 1 S&W M&P9c or the Walther PPS mod 2. I shoot both guns well and have been pleasantly surprised how well the Walther points an how well I shoot it. I carry the S&W more often just because the holster for the Smith is more comfortable than the one for the Walther.
