Summer Carry?

Northern Nevada here. All 4 seasons and usually a 30 degree spread from dawn to dark. Summers, I live in Hawaiian shirts either strong side or crossdraw, various revolvers or small semis..

Retired from a north Jersey PD, now in VA. For years I would carry a J frame in the winter and a G42 in the summer. My last LEOSA qualification the well maintained Glock had two FTE. That was it. Now a range gun only, I can't trust it.

A 442 is now full time but I may dig deep and go for a 340 PD. I carried a earlier. 38 spl. model years ago, I never should have sold it. This all sits well with me. I've always been a revolver guy.

Nothing wrong with revolvers.

Winters up here are cold, and multiple layering makes iwb carry difficult to access when going out. As like keeping firearm on person in winter, have switched to G23 in front pocket of heavy overalls. In warm weather back to 3 in 1911 iwb.

Picked up a Shield 9mm soon after they came out because my Compact 9 was too bulky for summer carry. Wasn't long before the Shield became my year round EDC. An easy carry and I'm good with it. Bought a Shield 45 after they made the scene, so it's one or the other.

I think people have two ways to look at Concealed Carry. Being a Lawman I have been carrying a concealed handgun for 50 years. What was okay in 1973 still works today. I think most people overthink it.

But for the non-LEOs and new carriers they are just "reinventing the wheel". Everyone is well served if they get "professional training".

I live in rural SW Mississippi. I walk every morning I am off. Winter time my 3 inch 686+ goes with me. In warm weather it is my snake getter Governor. I work in a hospital so I usually cover them by wearing an old scrub top over an OWB holster. As big as it is, the Governor is still lighter than the 686. Y'all have a good summer!

Same gun, same holster, and same pocket. When I take Angel for a dark of night walk I may carry something OWB just to break it out for a little while, but same EDC in the same holster. I carry my 36 front pocket fairly often but I still have the pistol in its usual locale.

Generally, a 3913NL flushfit 7rd mag in a Milt Sparks Executive Companion (which sit a bit lower than the Summer Specials).
one horizontal mag pouch on left side or two extra mags in a Milt Sparks inside waistband pouch worn between my wranglers and my Wilderness Tactical Frequent Flyer Belt (infinitely adjustable) behind my left hip.
T-shirt and loose fitting Fishing shirt with many Pockets for my "Stuff"

"4 season" carry in Florida, 1994-2021 SW 6906, CZ P07 since. Joe

I admit pocket carry is appealing because of how easy it is to grab and go. I think I may roll with my Desantis Nemesis and Smartcarry with my Model 36 year-round.

Kansas is Open Carry State so not sure how much help I can be. For the last five years I have carried a Beretta 92FS/G in a Sparks EX iwb holster just forward of my hip bone. The square shape of the holster helps to break the outline shape of the holster. After the leather gets broke in it is very comfortable.

Kansas has a extreme weather conditions. Being a Open Carry State I can carry the same gun and holster combo year round with temperature of weather determining if it covered or not.

I'd been carrying a 340PD or LCP for quite a few years. Recently p/u the LCP Max and after 400 + rounds at the range it's become my EDC for warm weather.

It's 100f in Dallas texas currently and we ran the roads at the mall etc Sunday and I carried my 686 no dash in my Kramer Thomas perfectionist iwb. Not trying to be a tough guy.. it's ether this or 3 inch king cobra OWB Kramer. Ether one is hidden by button up shirt as cover garment

Here in Florida, we rarely get cool weather so it's pretty much summer clothes year round. Mostly cargo shorts and t-shirts, polos, or Hawaiian shirts. My EDC is a rotation of either a 642-2 or an M&P9 PC Shield Plus...both carried in a pocket holster. I do also carry the Shield Plus AIWB, but my "spare tire" belly is beginning to make that a little uncomfortable! On the rare occasions that we do get some winter jacket weather down here, or we're traveling to a cooler climate, I can switch to a larger revolver or pistol in an OWB holster.
