Hey All-

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a .22 suppressor.

One of the guns I plan to use it on is my M&P15-22.

Obviously subsonic or standard velocity ammo is quietest; any suggestions?

Best,

Regular old CCI 40 gr CPRN is still pretty quiet in my T1X, rated at 1250 fps. It'e very quiet from my Mark IV 22/45. It's my go-to.

Federal American Eagle Suppressor 45 gr CPRN is very quiet in anything, rated at 950 fps. I don't particularly recommend it as it's been very inconsistent for me, poor accuracy.

Haven't tried CCI Quiet. Copper plated ammo is filthy enough that I don't feel the need to make it worse with exposed lead.

.22LR in general is going to be filthy in a suppressor, so stay on your cleaning game.

An observation if I may---about fishing tackle:

If one were to go out among the great unwashed, and ask the folks why fishing tackle was made, I can pretty much guarantee the majority would say it's made to catch fish. The perhaps more enlightened minority might say it's made to sell to fishermen.

I wonder what they might say about suppressor ammo?

I shoot CCI SV almost exclusively when running my suppressor. I've recently gotten through 1k Norma Tac-22 because I got it dirt cheap and it was consistently staying subsonic. The only ammo I've found to be absolute trash in my 15-22 was Winchester Super Suppressed. That did better through my FN 502 suppressed.

I don't shoot a suppressed .22, but recently I was looking for a SV .22 hollow point load that would be less destructive to squirrels and rabbits with body hits than HV HP rounds. Plenty of solid RN loads out there, but not a big HP selection.

I picked up a box of CCI "Silencer" HP lead ammo - 45 grn at 970 fps. It shot very accurately thru my squirrel guns I tested it in - A FS Ruger 10/22 and a Kimber "Hunter" bolt action. Took 5 so far this year using that load, and it works well - signs of expansion with body shots, but not all torn up like some HV loads do.

Don't know why the pic wont load right side up...?

CCI SV is all I use. Ultra quiet. The subsonic stuff out there is not required and frankly is terrible for accuracy. Some of it is so slow you can see the bullet travel thru the air as well. Here is a short video of CCI SV being fired in a 1911/22 and a Ruger.

CCI quiet will not cycle a lot of .22 semi-autos.......I run CCI's subsonic........With my DEAD AIR MASK.......It's staple gun quiet in my .22 semi auto pistols and only a little louder in my semi-auto .22 rifles........This ammo fully cycles any .22 I've run it in.
