Suspenders for CC

Yep belt and suspenders. I suffer from no butt all belly anymore.I also wear Back Defense duty suspenders under my vest which is in a outside carrier . It takes all the weight of my duty belt off my lower back.So on duty or off suspenders keep me from constantly pulling up my pants or letting them hang down and looking like a thug.

Good suspenders also help distribute your gat-weight, preventing back problems. I'm not old by any stretch, and I've thought about them.

sewn on

Ive sewn suspenders on all my jeans because I despise the silly clamp on clips and don't want the style that need a belt to function. Pants go on first then shirt no one is the wiser...

Have been wearing suspenders almost 40 years. Used to wear them on the outside, clipped to belt like a real man :) Adapting to cc carry and modern day style, now wear them over undershirt and under untucked outer shirt. The elastic kind did not suit me, as they wear out quick and don't hold up the weight as well. Cheap $15 set from farm and fleet, with heavy duty clamps on heavy leather belt are a favorite. They only have short strtch of elastic on the back. Have to sew on a soft patch where my pacemaker scar is. Yes, this does eventually mess up the belt, but can support 1911 45 acp and 2 extra mags.

On rare occasion when flying, the thin elastic kind with plastic clips keep my pants up without a belt buckle.

I've been wearing Perry Suspenders for about 20 years. Previous to that, I tried about every kind, even the kind that require buttons on the inside of the waistband. I started out with the 2" wide Perry's that have the plastic slide for the adjustment for length. I then tried their "dress" style suspenders which are about 1 1/2" in width and have metal "buckle's to adjust the tension. These work very well for me.

I wear them over a Duluth Buck naked tee or undershirt and either underneath or over the top of a long sleeved shirt depending on whether or not I have my shirt tail tucked. It is the plastic attachments that fit over the outside of my belt and slip up on the underside of my belt to hold them in place that I love so much. They are easy off and easy on, but the best part is that when it comes time to take a sit in the men's room, all I have to do is slip the straps down and off my belt and let the suspenders hang underneath whatever I am wearing on top of them and my britches can be taken down in the normal fashion without having to undress or fight with the metal clasps to reconnect them to the waistband of my britches. Get up, pull britches up, tuck shirt or not, reattach the rear hook on my belt, then reattach the two front hooks and I'm good to go. The hooks over the belt are not bulky and are very secure. And the metal adjustment buckles lie much flatter and stay in place better than the plastic slides on the wider suspenders for me.

I have a few sets, the newest ones for wear other than when am working and sweating heavily, and the older ones for work duty. As does all elastic, they eventually stretch to the point where they go in the can and I make a rotation of the newer ones to work duty and replace the newer ones with new. I get years of wear from a pair and keep my newer ones looking more spiffy for everyday wear in public.

My suspenders are seldom seen, since normally when I do tuck my shirt tail, I wear a vest of some kind over the top so both my galluses and my EDC are covered and concealed. I highly recommend the Perry's. Iggy's suggestion looks very promising to me, but I prefer the single strap down to my belt (which covers the center belt loop of my pants over the belt). I can't imagine doing without them at this point. I suggest you try a pair and see what you think. They'll take some getting used to, and you will learn to properly adjust them to hold things up well without being too tight. I buy them online from PerrySuspenders web site and have never had any kind of issue with the companty over the years. They are a great product in my experience!

Regardless of what people say....

....that shoulder holsters are uncomfortable, they are right for me and my body shape. My Remora holster has a pair of built in suspenders to anchor the holster and also double as a pants support.

When we reach the time in our life when comfort is more important than
our image, it's time to get some suspenders. I'm only 82, 83 in two
weeks, but I started wearing suspenders a few months ago, and really
like the comfort. I'll wear a belt too if I'm going somewhere, but I don't
have to cinch it up too tight.

I use perry suspenders , have to carry glock 17 spare mag and radio at work. if you were in military , you would remember you had suspenders to go with your pistol belt and everything that was on that.!!! put the weight on shoulders NOT your hips..

This reminds me of a debate from years ago in the cowboy action shooting world. Many purists believed that wearing suspenders with a belt was blasphemous. However, the pants from the Old West that used suspenders/braces, didn't come with belt loops!

Wearing a belt and suspenders with jeans often makes sense! Especially if the weight of a gun is involved. I haven't done it in years but I should!

I tried them, they started hurting my shoulders. I quit using them.

I use them all the time, I don't like hitching up my pants every step I take. I have good belts and holsters but the suspenders help

This is not an attempted hijack. But. . .

Horace Kephart, the so called Dean of American Campers and a local legend since 1903 or so wrote later, and I paraphrase. . .

Too tight a belt impedes a man's digestion. Wear suspenders instead.

Typically a highland bravo carries a revolver or automatic of large bore and good stopping power often in a shoulder holster.

My compromise is a M640 with magnas and a T-grip glued down by double sided auto body tape stoked with Federal 125s from old stock in my right front pocket in a shoe shop covered trigger guard (no AOW) holster and suspenders.

Just my 2/100ths of a bucks worth.

I dislike the clip on type. besides chewing up belts, not staying clipped on the pants, and other such shenanigans, I started sewing on buttons for suspenders. One time for the life of the pants, 20 minutes is about all it takes.

The all elastic suspenders didnt hold up well. Found some made of leather for most of them, with one section of very heavy elastic on the back below the Y, theyve been very good so far, havent had any problems with it losing its stretch or spring or whatever elastic does. Good enough quality and look to wear for dress occasions, if one isnt wearing a vest to cover them.
