I was driving thru a parking lot going down the access road toward the exit. I pass a skateboarder pulling all his normal stupid moves while going toward the exit as well. I go over the speed bump and make my right turn towards the light and wait for it to go red.

All of the sudden the skateboarder is outside my driver door yelling at me. First, I already had doors locked and windows up. HE IS YELLING I OWE HIM MONEY BECAUSE I RAN OVER HIS SKATEBOARD!!!!

Well this gets interesting real fast, he starts slamming the board and it breaks in two pieces. Pretty excited fellow and no way am I going to discuss the finer points of CONTROL WHERE YOUR STUFF GOES.
The light turns green and I get out of Dodge.
Sadly I was caught unprepared, I just got done at pistol range and my 1911 is stored in my range bag in the back seat. The second thing while all his antics were going on, I realized no one was going to help me!!

This occurred on a Saturday at 2PM where there's hundreds of cars going every which way. I thought last night how would I have reacted had he started beating on the window with that stupid skateboard!!

Dumb kids doing stupid things think you owe them when they mess up.

I would ask him to show me his license sticker, that allows him to use the road,
like all drivers, that should be attached to the board..........

before any $$ is exchanged.

LOL.

PS;
it is also a scam that kids use to get a new board for the old one that is "Shot".

You just have to be smarter than the average bear.

I am never without a carry gun.

Best option here: drive away.

You should have called the cops. Putting aside that he may have committed some form of crime by threatening or trying to extort you, he now has the potential to accuse you of hit and run and all he needed is your plate #.

The more cynical you are about others, the safer you will be. And skateboarders can be violent criminals. A skateboard used as a strikig implement is a lethal weapon.

This happens a lot more than you think.

I have to deal with skateboarders on a fairly regular basis. Most I have ran into fall in the age bracket of 16 to 23 years of age, are male, are agressive and confrontational (especially in groups) and are cowards. Many will not hesitate to attack someone either in an authority position or just someone they feel is a mark even when there is no justification for it. I will not go into the legal system stuff here. Suffice to say they will "fall down" and say you assaulted them and will sue (had one of those cases on body cam). In the cases of juveniles, mommy and daddy will come up with a lawyer and talk about how we are oppressing their innocent little darling...and during such times you find out just where the kid got their attitude from.

I have lost count how many times I have tried to run them off properties only to have them try to circle around me like a pack of wolves to attack. Last time I had one threaten to come back and shoot me. (FWIW the guy showed with two carloads of friends looking for me after the building had closed and no one was on property...he was seen on camera).

I was not there in your situation. But also you didn't mention if he had associates around and that you were on cell phone (I'll wager they were with their cellphones out). In which case even showing a firearm would've put YOU in the hot seat regardless of what the kid did. That is why I carry a small pepperspray dispensor next to me...a good shot to the face, eyes and mouth will leave these little FIOA (Future Inmates Of America) crying for mommy.

Every major city has them and several properties I dealt with over the years had standing orders to let them be simply because they don't want thousands of dollars in busted out building and car windows.

By using your accelerator you chose wisely.

Skateboarding on public streets is prohibited here. Skateboarders must use dedicated skateboard parks. It is strictly enforced so much so that I haven't seen a rogue boarder in a very long time.

You did the right thing by leaving. The only thing you should have done is to have dialed 911 and called the police to come to your location to investigate the incident. The skateboarder would not have waited around for the police.

Skateboards are carried by lots of people cause it looks innocent and as others said it is NOT innocent. Be careful out there and remember you have a gas pedal.

I wish I had video of the time I ran a skateboard, not a skateboarder over with the ambulance.

For some reason he thought it would be funny to kick it out in front of the ambulance while we were on a response. I guess he expected me to slam on the brakes.

Wrong.

The rear wheels went over the skateboard and the wheels flew off in different directions. We had West Coast mirrors on that truck and I got a good look on his face as we continued on.

I feel really stupid about one of the comments above, I never thought to call 911, after all I am stuck in utopia called Seattle, which does not even jail you if your a car jacker caught in the act.

I refuse to go west of mile post 52 except for work/training stuff. Haven't since 2005 or so. Even with the laughable response level of SPD, calling and making a record is good idea. Holmes is gone, thank goodness. The new City Attorney at least has the potential to address some of the silliness, although the consent decree is a major problem.

Yep, call 911, he could have called them and said you hit & ran him. Skateboarders and bike riders really push limits.

I was almost ready to comment till I read this. Now I've got nothing, as it's my understanding that criminals there are pampered and law abiding citizens have no rights.
