Ok I am looking into what speedloaders fit the 30-1. Will the Ruger LCR 327 work? I am not a big fan of HKS type speedloader.

Well, I was going to suggest the 32J but you don’t care for HKS. I am not aware of anyone else making a speedloader for I/J frame 32s.

Looks like a HKS 32-J might be your only option. I prefer the Safariland Comp II, but it's not made for several of the models I own, so I had to settle for the HKS. It's not as positive on release as the Safariland, but with practice you can do it fairly quickly. Forget it if the grip doesn't have at least a football cutout, maybe the smaller J frame stocks aren't as much of an issue.

This is a bane to my existence! I prefer to develop a “muscle memory” for tasks to be done rapidly, perhaps under stress. The Safariland spring-loaded Speed Loader uses a totally different set of skills than an HKS Cartridge Holder when inserting ammo into the revolver. I’m moving toward using speed strips for applications where Safariland is not available, but they also are not readily available in 32 caliber.

Sometimes I think the 32 calibers should be called the Rodney Dangerfield of cartridges (“I don’t get no respect!”)

I have three 32 revolvers. A 31-1, a 431PD, and an LCR 327.

I find that the HKS works best on the 31-1. It's slightly smaller in diameter than the 38 Special J frame version of the HKS, so it clears that grip a little better.

For some reason the 32 HKS isn't quite a nice with the 431PD. Not sure why. Maybe it's my immagination.

The 32 HKS also isn't real great with the LCR 327, but it's acceptable.

I also have a 5 Star 327 version. The 5-Star web site says it works with J frames, but it doesn't fit as well as the HKS. The cartridges seem slightly farther apart. I can make it work at the range, but wouldn't carry it with any of my three 32 caliber revolvers.

I use the 5 star loader to hold ammo and use it to load the revolvers when I'm loading one of the revolvers in the morning for carry. I can get it to work with enough wiggling around to get alignment right. But no good for defensive carry.

The 5-star web site says the 327 loader works with the SP-101. I'm guessing it was designed to be used with the SP which I believe has slightly larger cylinder spacing. But I don't have an sp-101 in 327 to try it on, so I'm speculating.

BTW, the 5-star 38 special loader works really great with the LCR-357. Real slick. It's my favorite loader for the LCR.
