I wanted to bob the hammer on my SW 360 but didn't want to ruin factory hammer. So my loving wife got me a 317/ 638 hammer to swap. I swapped it out this morning. I already like it much better. I will probably round the corners a little more as this thing is sharp on the edges.

Had one short snafu until I realized the hammer was not a "lock" hammer. Unfortunately i had to file off the nub on the flag that makes the lock lock. J/k.

Anyway pictures before and after. Cell phone pics.

Yeah, for complete anti-snag I understand. Yet I am reluctant to completely lose the ability to cock the hammer. I actually enjoy shooting this thing and like shooting SA at the range. I am about equal with DA as I am with SA now, so maybe I will completely do away with it at some point, but I doubt it. Maybe its the looks.

i prefer this type of bobbed hammer: http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/my_personal_model_10_files/image004.jpg

It makes a no-snag revolver. The smaller hammer does not accomplish this.

I also prefer the full-bobbed hammer as shown on the late Mr. Camp's Web site. However, the phone shows a hammer mounted firing pin hammer and the Model 360 has the frame mounted firing pin.

Bobbing a hammer on a frame mounted firing pin revolver leave something to be desired as the hammer is not completely solid, but has what could best be described as lightening cuts.

(Note, they aren't really cuts because the hammer is MIM and is most likely formed that way in the mold, but the description still fits.)

I believe that Forum member allglock has had success installing a Model 649 shrouded hammer into either a Model 337 or a Model 360. Perhaps he will review this thread and post some pictures if he still has them.

I think that the shrouded hammers may not have any lightening cuts. So it may be possible to get the same profile that Packard shows in the picture he posted. I've wanted to try this, but pocket carrying a frame mounted firing pin Chief's Special just isn't high on my priority list.

Bobbed the hammer on my then carry Model 60 ten or so years ago. Still can and do shoot it SA at the range if I feel like like it.
