SW 65-6 Ladysmith 3”

I picked this up at a LGS because it seems 3" model 65s are hard to come by.
Price was $700 OTD. My wife who shoots well, doesn't like revolvers. I showed it to her and she's in love with it. Trigger is very nice.

That was an excellent deal, especially in nice condition and with the case. The grips are an improvement over the version I have, lol. (I shoot it usually with rubber Uncle Mike's RB grips) And, it cost about $ 900 compared to yours.

Mine is a M65-5.....

If they follow most of the 3" stainless K frames I'd think north of $1000, or ??

Last one sold on GB just short of $1100. They don't come up very often. I don't think this model was huge seller.

I saw a 65-5 LS at the gun show in Raleigh, NC last weekend. Look LNIB and had the soft case and the box. It was priced at $1295.

I bought mine (with the soft case, but no box, like new) about five years ago for $625 OTD. I stole it and knew it when he quoted me the price.

The Model 65 Ladysmith is a great gun, I have two of them, both flawless 65-5's, complete with soft cases and cardboard boxes. I was fortunate enough to buy both for insanely low prices a few years ago, and I don't plan on letting them go anytime soon. The last 65-5 Ladysmith I saw for sale, just a few weeks ago at a gun show, was $1,095. I was tempted to buy that one, but my disposable gun money is a little low right now.

The 65 Ladysmith is probably one of, if not the best, 3" K frame revolver. It's like a fixed sight 3" Model 66.

The frame contour at the rear top strap is different than on the -5. Does it have the integral frame lug on the left, the part that keeps the cylinder from sliding backward with the action open?

Very nice at a great price, I found my 64 & 65, 5 years ago,
65 for 750, and the 64 for 450.
Both are in exceptional condition.

I think the 3" S&W K-Frame 357 Magnum is the perfect balance of size & power for a carry gun. And the model 65 Lady Smith is the high water mark of those.

I used to work in a gun shop, and we had a couple of these on the shelf and they just didn't sell well. Most women wanted something smaller/lighter and most men balked at the words Lady Smith on the gun.

Of course, once S&W dropped it from production, demand went up!

OP - as others have noted, you did very well on the price! I picked up mine (65-5) in 2009 for $495 and was happy to get it.

These are basically a Model 66 with fixed sights and I really like the shrouded ejector rod. The French ordered some like this before deciding on the MR73s. Here is the only 3" revolver I like better than my Model 65 Lady Smith.

You did very well. Seems the shrouded -5 is less desirable than its unshrouded brethren. I have both, but like the looks of the shroud.

New to me 65-6 Ladysmith 3"

A close family friend sold me this one recently out of his collection.

I'm just starting to learn more about them through this forum.

He had the hammer and trigger professionally worked on for CCW purposes.

I love the original Rosewood grips but I'm thinking about adding some Hogue grips on her for everyday carry and control.

Naming her "Loretta", she's a keeper

I switched out the rosewood grips with a set of VZ G 10 grips with a fairly aggressive texture.

I'm looking at a Model 65 'Lady Smith' locally but it has a 'tear drop' shaped cylinder release and either blued or dark case hardened trigger and hammer. Some of the ones shown in this posting have flash chromed trigger and hammer and the old style cylinder release.

Did S&W make two versions of the M65 'Lady Smith'?

Also the one I'm looking at does NOT have the case or the rose wood grips and has some shiny spots on the bead blast finish. Otherwise in very nice condition.

I'm pondering on it. Oh well.

Bad news, cylinder locked up on me when picking up at the FFL. Wouldn't budge an inch. Sent it back to Gunbroker seller and he's refunding the money. Disappointed to say the least as it was excellent otherwise

One of only two Smith revolvers I have two of. They are both-5s, but one is flash chromed and other case hardened. Also the case hardened one has backstrap serrations.
