Simple question: Will an SW-series barrel fit and work in a current SD-series pistol?
I know they have different part numbers so I'm guessing not... or at least not without some modification. Can anyone confirm? Thank you.

Just to be clear, this is not a barrel from an M&P. The barrel in question is from an SW-series pistol... i.e., the earlier version of what is now the SD40VE.Not a specific answer but from what I've seen it would be highly unlikely that a barrel for an M&P would fit the SD series. Typically different model lines will typically feature different design approaches and as a result things like Locking Blocks, Barrel Hoods, and Slide features will be different.
For example an M&P barrel may be 1/32 inch larger in diameter than an SD barrel. As for modifying that larger diameter M&P barrel one simple question arises. That is how are you going to PRECISELY locate that barrel in order to turn it down? Most of us don't have a precision lathe in our basement with a 4 jaw chuck and a dial indicator needed to get it located within a "tenth".
Thank you. I guess the only way to know for certain will be to compare them side by side.i don't believe they will
