Finally made it to the range with my new "E" series that was a Christmas present form my wife. First off the pistol was 100% reliable from the 1'st shot to the last. I started off with
1. 50 rnds Federal 230 grn FMJ.
2. 50 rnds Federal Classic 230 grn JHP
3. 50 rnds Federal 230 grn HST
All loads shot to the POA and the sights were perfectly regulated at 7 out to 25 yards. The trigger on this pistol was superb and I'm really impressed with this 1911. I shot this 1911 next to a friend with a Kimber and found the S&W to be more accurate. I highly recommend this S&W to anyone comtemplating buying a 1911, the "E" series has a lot of nice touches and is a quality pistol.

Thanks for the info and pic mag. Mine is a year old with about 1000 rds and all I can say is wow. (108482) Best of luck with your new toy.

I agree with everything mentioned!

I'm a revolver guy with decades of focus on them. It has taken the purchase of a new 1911 E to have me appreciate what S&W can do with manufacturing a quality auto-loader. I believe they are a "home run" for S&W....

They are as superbly functional as they are beautiful to look at. I plan to add the custom shop models to my collection soon...

I'd have to agree with everything said here about the S&W 1911's. I have a 1911SC E-Series and a 1911 PC.

The SC is lighter than an all steel Commander sized 1911, but I don't notice the recoil to be any worse for the lighter weight. And, the roundbutt doesn't gig me in the ribs.

I recently sold a '70 Series Colt Gold Cup. The Colt couldn't hold a candle to the PC S&W. Granted, the Gold Cup use to be the top shelf 1911, but compared to the PC S&W it had a heavier trigger, sloppier slide/frame fit, and a barrel link that was too long.
