SW40VE advice needed, Please help.

Reliability and durability were absolutely astounding with my SW40VE. Flawless. Trigger isn't good (first time I dry fired it in the store I thought it was broken until it finally "broke") but once you get used to it you can shoot anything well. I dont know about Rugers but the Sigma is a great gun. Note: it will be trash talked by ignorant gun store folk. You cant argue with performance, though.

You made a good trade. As much as I love Rugers,
the, LCP doesn't impress me. On the other hand,
my SW40VE is my favorite auto- it is utterly reliable- it eats lead, FMJ's HP's. If you can shoot a revolver double action, then the Sigma is no problem. It is a reliable self-defense handgun.

Outstanding trade in my book. Shoot your Sigma a lot, you will see that it gets better and better. I've had a number of students with them and they have all enjoyed them greatly. You will NOT regret THIS one!

I keep my SW40VE in the nightstand. I was using it to qualify every year (HR 218-retired LEO). The trigger pull is hard and rough, even after about 300 rounds. It never failed, IMO great as a self defense weapon, but not a great target shooter.

If the trigger pull feels rough or gritty,
I bet the plastic parts below the sear are
pretty dry. Might need to be lubed up a bit.
I noticed this was critical the last time I did
a major cleaning.
You can verify if it's from that area by pushing
down the trigger arm and feeling the friction
from the trigger parts alone. If it then feels
real smooth and easy, the friction is from the
parts below the sear.
That section is easily removed if you drive out
the rear pin. Just remember how the arm from
the trigger goes. That whole block will lift
out and then you can take a good look at it,
and also manually push on it to see how that
part feels.
When those parts are totally unlubed, the grit
feel is horrible. But if you lube the areas
that rub, it will smooth up greatly.
I used some light oil the last time I did it,
and it worked great. But dry silicone has been
recommended lately as a better choice. Will
attract less dirt.
Lubing up that sear block area made a great
improvement on how my trigger felt.
The first time I cleaned that section I used
a good cleaner that totally strips off all lube.
I tried it totally dry at first just to see how
it would feel. Horrible.. Just wretched...

Lubed it up, and nice and smooth.

Well, the trade did not go through. I guess I will just keep the LCP, unless I can find a S&W 637 or 442 to trade for. I am trying to save up the cash to add to what I can sell the LCP for so I can get a pocket sized revolver. My SP101 just is not good as a Pocket pistol.
