How many rds have been fired through it? I'd pay $400 only if it is "low mileage" and in excellent shape. Is it a full size or compact? 9 mm or .40? Some were .45s.

I own a full size SW99 Quick Action and a compact SW990L. Both are .40's. Both have several hundred rounds through them, and both have been flawless.

Regardless, before I'd pay $400 for one, I'd pay a hundred or so more for the equivalent M&P (especially the very latest that have improvements in the trigger). My 99's have "gritty" triggers the same as some describe their M&Ps.

If small is your goal, for very little more or even less than $400, if you're lucky, get a M&P Shield. I love shooting my Shield a lot more than my 99's.

The best thing about the 99's are their ergonomics. They became the redheaded stepchildren after the M&P line was introduced. Accessories are out there, but not like you have with the M&Ps.

As you can see from my username, I am a fan of this handgun.
Mine is a SW99c chambered in 9mm but is similar to the SW990L.
It's DA/SA and also has a decocker.
S&WForty has some good points but here are some others to consider.
Mag release paddles on the Walther lower vs. release button on M&P's.
The Walther mag release is ambidextrous where the M&P can be switched to a preferred side.
I'm betting you like the grip on the SW and it's great ergonomics.
Also, how many mags come with it?
SW99/P99 mags are widely available at reasonable prices and various capacities and bases.
Extra M&P mags could possibly be hard to find or acquire.
$400 seams like a fair price as long as it's in excellent condition.
Any accessories installed or come with it? Special sights, box, lock, owners manual, grips, etc.
Consider everything. I did and I love mine.
