I am trying to swap the cylinder on my Model 442 with the cylinder from a Model 642.

Why?... Because I want to for the heck of it. And because I am thinking about having the 642 cylinder cut for moon-clips so I can have the option to shoot the 442 with 38's with the original cylinder, or with 9mm, using the 642 cylinder (after I send it out for modification).

Well, I'm having difficulty. The 642 cylinder seems to install OK, but once installed, it will not index by pull of the trigger. I can hand-manipulate the 642 cylinder to sort-of index. But no amount of fiddlery will cause the hammer/striker to fall. No matter how hard I pull the trigger.

Seeking advice as to what I may be doing wrong.

Here's a YouTube video I made.

teeth on second cylinder to long. Cylinder locks up before the hand can get by the tooth. The hand being attached to the trigger stops it.

changing the extractor should work. But then you will need the other fit to the gun to use once it is modified to be a 9mm.

Trading cylinders ometimes you get lucky and sometimes you do not. Where did you get the 442 cylinder. New ones are almost always long in the teeth.
