So is anybody in the USA importing them?

Please excuse the dumb question and I tried to sort it out from all the posts, but couldn't. What caliber are these pistols? Do they just come in 9mm? Or can you get .45, 10mm, etc? ( I would bet .45 and 10mm offerings would help sales tremendously in the US).

Most are in 9x19mm, .40S&W is available on some Drake models, and the Raptor can be ordered in 9x21mm.

A super high quality high capacity 10mm would be great, but I suspect the dimensional challenges associated with the 10mm and the .45ACP cartridges (gun, grip, mags) would be significant. This is a small company with limited resources, and they are not at the "okay, we've sold everybody a 9mm, what else could we do?" point. Pretty sure they'd be happy if they could produce all the current models in sufficient numbers. Also, the 9mm cartridge in the CZ75 design with the high quality Mec-Gar mags is such a good, reliable, well-tested combination. It's a really good choice if you're shooting for perfection.

That's enough to back me off -

Won one of their auctions on Gunbroker and received a revolver in need of repair. Multiple emails and phone calls and they never took care of the problem. Ended up dropping almost a hundred bucks with my gunsmith to get it fixed.

Live and learn - my experience with that company.

I bought a couple of these recently and I'm extremely impressed. Phoenix was started a couple of years ago by the former owner of Sphinx. Their shop is in Interlaken, Switzerland.

They have four models currently, all of which are based on the CZ 75 design:

Fusion - Duty pistol
Redback - Competition pistol
Drake - Limited pistol
Raptor - Open gun


The Fusion is available in a Compact, Tactical, or Standard. The Tactical is basically a Compact with some additions. The Standard is the full size gun. All Fusions are a combination of three materials. The slide is steel, the frame is aluminum, and the grip is polymer. Its also available in all black or with an FDE frame and grip. Mine is an all black Standard (ST) model.

The Fusion uses less expensive materials and has less machining, but the build quality and fitting is just as nice as the Redback.

Does anyone else have hands on experience with these pistols?

I just received a Fusion Compact, chambered 9x21 IMI , but during these Holidays my range is closed: so, not tested yet.
Anyway, some pics are always welcome.

I would love to see a comparison between the Raptor compact and a Sphinx SDP compact. I don't see what could really be improved over the Sphinx, at least in machining. I own a CZ P07 Custom, the SDP, and a SAR CM9 Gen2, and for the money, the SAR is a pretty great gun. I scored on the SDP, barely used, with one tiny nick on the trigger guard, and about $250 cheaper than new. Three mags came with it, and I found a couple for $25 each online. The CZ has a fiber optic and night sight combo I was surprised to see when I got it, and has a really great trigger, totally different than the Sphinx. Better SA on the CZ, better DA by far on the Sphinx.

Are you sure there is a Phoenix Raptor Compact? The Phoenix gun to compare the SDP to would be the Fusion Compact/Tactical, but it might be out of production, haven't seen one in a while.

He means the Fusion. The Raptor is a $7000 Open gun
