The last car I had with synthetic oil was a 1985 BMW 318.
I was the 3rd owner and it always had Mobil I in it.

The last I saw of it, it had 325,000 miles on it.

As I recall, it was 10k per oil change.

It differs. My wife's car when the light comes on telling her it needs service. I have no idea when or how often that is. Don't even care. Its well past 7 years old now, and if it goes bad or she wants a new car, she gets it.

My everyday driver jeep about 6,000 miles. I supply the Mobil 1, but let the shop change it.

For my trail jeep, every time I go west with it. Total miles might be 3,500 between changes. I don't care. I change it myself. If I were the type to budget for that, it would be maybe $30 a year, or $60 if I go to Colorado in the summer. The key is that it always starts regardless of the outside temps. Those using mineral oil can't say that.

I use Amsoil and change the oil once a year. I usually put on between 10 - 15,000 miles / vehicle and I use their 25,000 mile Oil AND Filters. I have used Amsoil products for 10 years now and have had nothing but great results, great milage and all 5 of my vehicles run perfectly.

If you STILL change synthetic oil & filters at the old conventional intervals you are wasting your money and should switch back to Dino Oil products. I know it's difficult for some people to wrap their heads around the concept of synthetic oils being so far superior - but oils have come a looooong way in the last 10 years.

I have been using Mobil 1 in all my vehicles for many years. I have had all of them until they were well over 200,000 miles. One, a 1983 ford F-150 had a little over 300,000 miles on it and it was carburated. Not fuel injected.
All of the vehicles I have now except one has the "Change engine oil" on the dash. I change it when it comes on. The one that doesn't gets the oil changed every 5000 miles.

Castrol syntec every 7500k. I drive 3-4 hours in rush hour daily in Houston. 265k on the car. Still on factory brakes and this clutch has almost 200k on it. I've done routine maintenance and a couple normal wear and tear replacements.

between 6000 and 8000 miles. my "goal" is 6 grand, only because it may take me an extra 2 grand depending on how much overtime i am getting. i generally change it myself, but in a pinch, i'll have it changed when i get it inspected with my supplied oil and filter.

when i drain it, it looks the same as it did when i put it in. i often think i could go farther.

my vehicle has 54000 miles and the wife's is at 33000.

I go 7500 - 10,000mi based on how the oil looks. I can always get 7500, but sometimes by 10k the oil can look a little dirty & past prime.

With a synthetic I run about 5K.
If your engine has variable valve timing(vvt), always make sure your level is full. Oil is used as a hydraulic fluid to aid in timing. If system is low or becomes sludged up from lack of maint, you will have problems...

I had a 1987 Dodge Shelby Daytona...fun little car with a turbocharged 2.2L engine. I brought it in for some service at about 150,000 miles and the mechanic asked me how many times I had replaced the turbo. I told him it was the original, and he asked, "Mobil 1?" Yep...every 5k-7k miles. :)

using mobil 1 in my corvette because that is what Chevrolet said to use. get 4 free oil changes within the first 24,000 miles. I may never put that much mileage on it at the rate 5-6 thousand per yr. before I get something else. like a z-06

Been using synthetic for years. I go 7 ~ 10k.

I've noticed an improvement when I switched from dino to syn on a car.

Now I let the car tell me and I don't sweat it. I used to change the oil every 2 ~ 3k with dino. Syn is better.

My BMW moto is still in the break-in. Boxer motors take up to 18k to stop using oil and they come with dino. Can't wait until it hits the mark, I'm sure I'll see an improvement in mileage when I switch it over.

I use motorcaft synthetic blend from Ford. I own 3 cars, two of them call for oil changes between 7500-10000 miles. One of them call for oil changes whenever the computer tells me too (my 1st oil change was at 7500 miles)
