I'm heading over Saturday - NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse NY.
$8 to get in and 1000 tables.

Looking for some N frame grips and maybe a holster for my 1956 M&P snub.

Anyone else going or have a table?

We are going. Wife and I will pick up my son and hopefully get there at about 9.30. looking to find a magazine that fits my Indian Arms .380 and a good set of grips that fit my very early Ruger Security Six.:). Probably will have a better chance of finding The Ark of the Covenant than those two parts.

Not too bad

After a 2.5 hour drive stood in line for about 30 minutes. Massive center over 1000 tables. Was looking for
Marlin 30-30 or 444 for a friend
Pre war service grips for my 38/44 HD
Holster for my 1950s M&P snub

Five minutes in found a lady selling new old stock Pachmayr grips for k frame round butt. $34 on Amazon but she sold these for $10 each - got two

Maybe two hours later rifled through a holster box. Came across a like new Federal Guy j frame holster from Buchmeier. No blemishes or signs of use. $10 bucks. Would be great for the range so why not.

Towards the end of my day met a real nice gentleman who used to shoot PPC and carried a revolver as a Sheriff. We talked for a good 30 minutes about the good old days and deals we’ve made over revolvers when it seems everyone else is searching for ARs or Glocks. He had a real nice Bianchi holster for an N frame no marks or blemishes that belonged to his father. Had it marked for $40 and that’s what I paid. Maybe not a deal but the conversation was great.

He carried a Colt Trooper then 28 then a 586 before being forced into a Glock.
He was able to buy his 28 and it was a 5 screw. He said worst decision he ever did was sell it off years ago for something or other. Ouch
He didn’t like the Colt trigger at all
And he asked to buy his 586 but the deal was Glock got them as part of the sale. He later found out they cleaned them up and sent them off to Saudi Arabia for a private security firm. He was still mad about that one as the 586 had the best trigger he ever tried and was dead on with their service round.
He shot PPC and was old school as he would snip off half a turn of the trigger return spring until it was to his liking.

Tons of Winchester lever actions but only 4 Marlins - three 35 REM and one 30/30 but that was priced over $1000
No luck on the k frame snub holster
And no luck on the pre war service grips
Did find some but all were k frame and chipped up
Saw a nice 6” 19 for $595 but it had a few marks
Saw a beautiful 19 snub in the box but it was priced at 1200 and out of my budget and besides I have a 66-1 2.5” to scratch that itch.

Did a see a 6” brand new Colt Python blemish but darned if I could find it and it was priced at $1599. One of these days but again beyond my budget.

Was a good day and beat sitting in the house doing chores

Next week is the local show - 300 tables but I’ve done well there so will continue my search.

And of course saw the pickle vendor, Chinese knifes and lots of military memorabilia.

Sounds like a good day. I always find things I didn't know I needed at gun shows and sometimes even find what I'm looking for. :)

Next weekend a new promotor is trying a new format. Show is Saturday only at a very nice facility in Shepherdsville Ky (Paraquet Springs for those familiar) about 20 miles s of Louisville.

Tables are $30, admission $5, set up 7am-9am and show is open 9am-3pm. Plenty of free parking and right off I-65. I'm expecting the show to be a success and Sat 9-3 is where the action is at most small shows. I'm going to do my part. :)

We also went, with about the same drive time as you had.Had to wait on the road for about 20 minuets to hit the only open gate to drive in. We were in the people line a little over a hour. Once inside the show it appeared that things went well and the aisle were spaced far enough apart that easy movement was possible.:D

The only Python I saw was at the $2,200 point and my son and I keep on moving. My son bought a nice hand made Damascus knife, my wife got a good compound bow for my other son and I got lucky and found a older Bianchi inside the pants holster for $5. I did see two older good condition Browning .22 Lr take-down rifles for sale, one was at the $900 level and the other was at $1,100. (I bought mine in the early 60s and paid $50 for it)

Many years ago I went there circa 1997. My best friend was living there at the time. His wife and daughter were gone to her parents for the weekend, so it was boy's night out.

I remember seeing things at the show that I never saw before, and never saw again. Really nice 03A1's, MP44 with the curved barrel to shoot around corners, inter-war 1911A1's. Just cool stuff.

Plus, they served beer, and we came by taxi, so no worries. We said at the time if this place had strippers it would be pretty much perfect.

There is more to the story, but not germane to the conversation. And I don't feel like getting dinged today.

I went yesterday. Had an Italian sausage, peppers, and onion sandwich and a bottle of water in the restaurant attached to the main show area. Walked around a little bit. Went home. I have a new 10-5 snubby coming from a fellow forum member here (classifieds sale). I'm all set. :)

I went. Sold a couple. Bought one.(241 Remington that I still hven't even uncased to take another look at it).
Good just to be at a gunshow again. Not a lot of them around like there used to be.
Probably should have bought a No4 303 that a guy had walking around. But I just didn't feel the need. A Savage too.

Found a nice '03 Springfield bbl (1932 IIRC). Perfect bore.
I will either use it to re'bbl a Newton if the orig 256 Newton bbl doesn't work out any better for me.
They are the same threads and breech dimensions.
I need another '06 like a you know what. But they are just shooters for me so a good shooter is better than a poor one.
If not I can likely resell the '03 bbl easily enough.

I figured Governess Hochul might have extended the Mask Mandate to the facility since it is a State facility. But didn't.
One guy did walk around all day with a full face gas mask w/ canisters on though.
Hope he's OK.

Primers for up to $100/brick. Few takers if any.
Odd boxes of CF rifle bullets for anything from $30 to you name it for the bigboy calibers.
Lots of .22rf ammo around. But still no where near the pre-C19 prices. Likely never will be either.
$5+/box for .22lr seems to be the norm for run of the mill stuff.

Gun prices high generally. Everyone reads the internet asking prices too much, ( $1000 for a plain (Ithaca/Lefever)Nitro Special 12ga Sxs shotgun w/ no finish on the frame??!!)

But lots of sales reported by the dealers I talked with when they priced stuff reasonable. Reasonable today is still much higher than it was pre C19 of course.

Quite a few non-firearms trinket type dealers. That's been the norm for the past few yrs anyway. Yard signs, leaf gutter guards, raffles, a couple of Political Vote for Me set-ups. Jewelry, belts, toy soldiers (plastic! not even good Lead ones)...etc, etc.
I did not see the rubber band gun man there this time. Somewhat of a fixture at Syr. Maybe they told him his RBG's needed a NICS check under the SAFE Act and an OK to Release tag to go out the door.

Next show Sept 17/18,,,,can hardly wait!!

I should save this for my next "Orlando Gunshow Report." About the same even if we don't share stupid legislation. May 21-22 is the next gunshow weekend. Fairgrounds and Lakeland on same weekend. Even though it's 3X as far, probably go down to Lakeland just to see something different. I CAN wait. Joe
