Alright fella's, I get it. My 'tone' could be perceived as off in my last thread, geez you guys are touchy. My implications of amateurism was not directed toward anyone in particular and what's wrong with being an amateur? The word implies you do it for the love of it, which IMO loving it should create the desire to always be smoother, faster, with tighter groups. The title of the thread is an old saying that's been bouncing around the military/le courses for years. yes I realize the reason for all the 1913 rails is for customization (ie shooter preference). The sight placement I mentioned doesn't offend me, I'm seriously wondering why folks want the sight there. I'm not trying to catch flies or flak, just trying to tap into this wealth of knowledge.
The 15-22 is a viable training platform for me and has quickly overtaken my 5.56 in range time (less bite out of my wallet). My intent was to create a textbook picture thread for new joins to really stop and think about what they want their rifles to do and how to perform and not waste gobs of cash like I did during my first enlistment. I think everyone could appreciate this.
My 15-22 is set up as closely to my M4 as possible(minus peq-16, acog, BUS), pics for criticism and advise. The first photo is of the day I purchased(04-10). Bi-pod grip bc I had one lying around, cheapo BSA sight bc acog's are pricey. At the time my placement of the bipod grip was much further back than present, hence why I brought it up, after some excellent shooting courses, I saw the error of my ways pertaining to the role my (real)rifle plays and got my off-hand groups much tighter with a grip further forward. You'll also notice my sight is further back. The common thought with my old unit was a sight placement further back for a larger window and unobstructed view, however i now run my sight in line with my magazine well for faster sight picture and more focus on the target and less on the red dot. I don't run BUS's bc I didnt like the sight picture cluttered with the A2 rear sight, but I do have them on my M4; Knight's armament I believe.
So have at it, critique, suggest, curse, do your worst. I have thick skin. Thanks Chattanooga for the insight to your rifle
