Take down problems after changing pistol grip

I had seen many reviews and videos on changing the grip on the 15-22 and most all point out the extra hole in the factory 15-22 grip for the take down detent and spring and all I have seen show using the any standard MOE AR grip and just make sure the take down spring does not bind. What none of them talk about is, because you are compressing the spring more without the hole the take down pin becomes very difficult to push out. I can get mine out now but it takes a slight hammer tap with a punch. Not the best for in the field take down if I have to. Any suggestions from anyone? Would love to go back to my easy take down without going back to the stock grip. Thanks!

I used an appropriate sized bit in my fingers and just twirled it around. On harder plastic use a hobby hand drill. Otherwise vice it up Chuck the bit and go slowly. It is just plastic.

Stupid question but have you put the detent in the right way around? It looks like a 1950's style atom bomb and obviously it should go in with the rounded nose first.

I can't say i've noticed a difference in mine since changing the grip.

Trim the spring if it is a problem.
The takedown detent is the same on both ends. The safety detent is not.

Does not seem my answer to you posted so I will answer again. I am sure it is in the right way. There are two springs (different) and two different detents that are different size and shape. The one I am having no problem with is for the safety selector and that detent looks like what you are describing or, similar to a loaded cartridge, pointed on one end and flat on the back end. The detent for the take down pin, which is the one I am having problems with looks identical on both sides and seems to not have a right and wrong way to put in. The spring is also a smaller diameter spring for this detent.

That is what I thought so I was sure I had the pin in correctly. Hate to trim the spring without a replacement in case I trim too much but I guess I can have a go at that. Thanks

Just swapped out for a Magpul MOE-K grip. No difference noticed.
