The M&P is what the Glock should have been all along. My M&P mags don't rattle. Personally, I don't think you could go wrong with any of these three pistols, but my personal favorite is the M&P. As a dealer I will tell you this. Don't let someone "sell" you. Don't fall for a sales pitch or gimmicks. Buy the one you like the feel of and be happy with it. I don't like the feel of Glocks, but I'm not the one buying. When you go to a dealer to make your purchase everything you consider about the purchase should revolve around the fact that you may someday need to defend your life with it. That's what it comes down to. Good luck.

M&P-40 C.O.R.E. Magazine rattle

My M&P-9 C.O.R.E. 17 round mags do not rattle and eject like a bat.
You will like the pistol.
I used my old M&P-9L 5" to complete 3 courses at Front Sight Nevada with no FTF, FTE issues at all. 600 rounds, 600 rounds and 550 rounds per course!

SD40VE is a poor representation of a real S&W .40

You are entitled to your opinion, of course...but have you ever owned or shot a SD40VE? If not, then you aren't speaking from experience, and just parroting what someone else has told you. I have both the SD9VE and the SD40VE, and I think they are very good guns, especially considering what they cost. I've also owned many other guns, and I'm not saying the SDVE series are at the same level as some, but they are not "poor representations of a real S&W." They certainly aren't imaginary!

As to mags rattling, often you see people load them up, then sharply hit them against the palm of the hand to seat everything, eliminating any rattling.

I've owned many double stack and single stack guns, and my SD40VE is the only gun I've ever owned that the mag rattle persisted after the "smack" treatment. It seems to be a common problem with this particular gun, and some are able to get it to stop rattling by downloading it one round. Mine is "unique" in that if I only load it with 13 instead of 14, the mag won't rattle outside the gun, but it will when I load it in the gun (slide closed.) It doesn't affect functionality.

I'm going to order some Wolff springs (3 for $17) which should take care of the rattle. Others have used Glock springs, some with the SDVE follower and some with a Glock follower in addition. I'm hesitant to put Glock parts in my gun, as I'm afraid it might make me...arrogant.

The M&P is a nice gun. I've used it and liked it although I'm an old dinosaur and still like a 1911 in .45. I also like the XD very much and probably ould go with the XD over the M&P just because I like the way it feels and have as much faith in it as the M&P. I think whichever one feels the best to you is the one you should buy. Glock? No way! If the XD came out before the Glock, I don't think there would even be a Glock today.

I absolutely love my .40 fullsize shoots amazing and feels like an extension of my ARM,just the way a pistol should feel.however if I load a full 15 rounds I do get a little rattle,if it bothers you then just load a couple rounds light.you won't regret the purchase

Best argument I can think of is $299.00 at CDNN Sports, or $399.00 at Buds with night sights and free shipping. These arre police turnins, but from what I hear they're in great shape. Only reason I sold mine is that I have the 40c and 45c. Great pistols, you won't be sorry.

Well... I went to the Dark Side. I went in to my LGS Friday to buy the M&P 40. He had the Glock gen 3s on a good sale. I held the Glock 23 and the Glock 22. The backstrap is a does feel a little square in my hand, but it balances and points nicely. I bought the Glock 22 for the 15 round mag capacity. I brought it home and prepped and lubed it Friday night. I went to the range today and I must say it's a shooter. I like it a lot. I'm still a big M&P fan. My next pistol will be an M&P in 9mm. I'm not a Glock fanboy. It just felt right that day and the dude made me a smokin deal on it.

This was from my second magazine... 10 shots from 10 paces... I shot more but my son and I shared other targets and messed them up pretty bad, then we shot some cans and stuff. I liked it a lot for the first outing. I'm sure the pistol shoots a lot better than I do. I'll get better.

My sole reason for buying the .40 was so i can get the Storm Lake conversion barrel to 9mm. so for an extra 200 bucks you have an entire new gun.

I'm so glad they weren't. I ended up selling all my M&Ps. The 9, 357sig and 45.
