Hands down my favorite S&W .22 autos. I have the adjustable sight 4.5", and 6" 422s and the 3" 2214.
These were simply the highest quality .22 autos that Smith ever fielded short of the 41 and 46, and the market has recently begun to reflect that.
Just my own opinion, but every .22 auto that S&W has come out with after this series of guns stopped production has been a disappointment for me.
My 422s have just been great guns. One I've owned since 1988 has thousands of rounds through it and has never needed any work of any kind.
The worries over the supposed lack of parts availability always causes me to chuckle. :D

^the truth! 41's are fantastic but their price point puts them out of reach for many. But the 422/622/2206 pistols are better than ALL the rimfire semiautomatic pistols S&W has made since.

There are many things we all want in a pistol but build quality, proper function and accuracy are things that we demand.

Since this series was ended, S&W hasn't managed to deliver those things consistently in a rimfire pistol.

I have a model 622 and love it. I bought it new and it functions flawlessly, even if I forget to clean it.

a 422 was my first new pistol purchase... late 1980's... long barrel fixed sight plastic grips.. have since added 22's to the collection that ranged from $100 - $1200... that 422 is still a great gun... accurate... and never a mistep... I did add a target sight version to the pile... they are my "cheap" M41's... enjoy your future 422...
