I just bought a new first generation PC Shield 9 w/night sights for $399 to replace the 2.0 version I sold last year. I noticed the smooth more slippery grip on the 1.0 vs 2.0 I used to own. I'm thinking of putting the Talon stick on rubber version on. Any opinions on them from you that have used them?

I put rubber Talons on several of my guns and have been satisfied. I find my carry gun (not a Smith) to be quite slippery. Granulate Talons cured that for me.

I have the adhesive rubber Talon grip on both my 45acp and my 9mm 1st generation PC Shields. For me, they have improved both the grip and the comfort of the pistols. YMMV

Never used the Talon grip, but I highly recommend the Agrip from Brooks Tactical. I use them on most of my polymer framed guns. The grip is excellent, like a fine suede that just grabs hold of your skin - wet or dry (it actually works better when your hands are wet). It is extremely durable, but still peels off easily and without residue should you ever want to remove it. It is a little pricey, but it lasts.

I have used A-Grips on many guns. Great product.

I have also used the rubber Talon grips and I like them. They add the right amount of "feel". I suspect from what others have written that the more aggressive skate-board-tape type Talon grips may be too aggressive for many people, especially for concealed carry.

I also have the PC Shield 1.0 in 9mm and for me the grip was a little thin. I installed a Hogue handball rubber grip last year and really like the feel now. It has stayed tight and in place for many range visits.

I have a Talon rubberized grip on my Shield 9 1.0, and a Hogue grip on my Shield 45. Both are excellent, but unless you need the extra thickness that the Hogue provides, go with the Talon. Not only is it less expensive than the Hogue, it is way easier to install. On the other hand, if you're looking for a unique aerobic workout, go with the Hogue.

When I used the Hogue rubber grips in the past, I found they interfered with carrying concealed. Also of the three I tried all three would slip down the grip after a few dozen mag insertions. I now stay away from them, but others seem to be having good luck with them. They're OK for a range gun.

I have them on an XDM and a PPSM2 and they are great! Don't need them on the M&P 9!

I have a Shield .45, a Shield PC .40, and M&P .40, and every one has a rubber Talon grip on it. They are the difference between a good gun and a great gun, IMHO. I agree with CB3 though, if you're not using the Talon, the only truly good option is the Agrip. Pricey, but hard to beat.

Put the rubberized Talon grips on my Glock 43X. Best $17 you can spend for your firearm. Have another set of the grit texture ordered for my wife's Shield, and rubberized for my Shield I purchased yesterday. Had them ordered before I even bought it. :)

I have the rubberized version and like them a lot. Remember to clean the surface area with rubbing alcohol. After you apply the grip decal, use a hair dryer and some muscle to make it adhere even better. I did this and mine look just as good as when I first applied them 3 or so years ago.

This! Have had a set of rubber Talon Grips on my 1.0 Shield a couple of years w/no issues, and I like the way it makes the grip feel more substantial without adding bulk. If I were in your shoes, I'd go with this and never look back.

Thanks for the opinions/advice. I'm convinced. Talon Rubber version have been ordered.

Love the Talon rubber grips on my Shield 1.0 9mm and the granulated on my M&P 45 1.0 full size. If I could only have one I think it would be the granulated.

Talon rubber grips are great!

Traction grips also work great, but they are pretty much half the price.

I have Talon rubber grips on most of my (too many) polymer framed handguns. I have had no problems with any of them and some have been in use for several years.

First, throw away the small alcohol towelette which Talon provides. It isn't very good for the task.

Next, use a cheap one inch or smaller paint brush and some 70-90% rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. Brush the alcohol on the grip generously and then wipe vigorously with a terry cloth rag. The napping on the terry cloth will get into crevices or grooves on the grip.

Repeat at least once. This removes all the hand and gun oils so the rubber grips will stick well.

Then follow Talons recommendations on applying the grip tape with a hair dryer.

I've used this method on PPQs, Glocks, H&Ks, FNSs and other handguns with good success. Good luck.

I've got their rubber grips on 3 or 4 guns. They also sell 5" x 7" sheets that you can use if you just want to make some side panels or a piece for a mag release that has no texture (P365 for example), etc.
Great product.
