Talon grip issue.

Not to change the subject of the OP, but has anyone applied these grips to a gun that has ct laser grips? (just wondering) Or what about a gun that is shared with a spouse (having to change backstraps frequently). Would'nt you have to trim the grip tape even more? Thinking about purchasing talon grips, just got too many questions about them

They make a sheet grip, cut your own any way you like it. I have done that on an SD and it turned out great. I think the sheet is a huge $8-11 bucks? give or take a few and free shipping.

I don't get the whoopla here.....

The grips fit great, look great and MOST importantly work great.

What exactly is the issue???

The issue IS...That you have not read the whole thread. There are problems with the grips, even if you choose not to believe it!

Exactly. The issue is its rolling up where it's not lined up because nothing is under it.

You could take a razor blade and carefully trim around the logo hole on the edge.

But, I can understand your disappointment. Have you contacted Talon yet?

Just got my Traction Grips yesterday. Not as nice looking as the Talon Grips, it doesn't cover the backstrap of my Shield. They kind of look like they're gonna be a pain to install perfectly. How do you guys clean your frame before applying the grips? Just soap and water like they recommend or is there another cleaner that can be used like alcohol?

I used brakekleen. Alcohol will work. I used a piece for the extended mag on the backstrap.(Cut it in half, and put it right in the middle). Mine works just as well as the Talon for half the price.
I have noticed one thing about any stick on grip. The 40 Shield has such violent recoil, that ANY stick on grip may shift or come off partially after shooting many rounds.

Fortunately my Shield is a 9mm. I ordered 2 kits since they were so cheap in case I screw up, so I'll see how it goes. I'll post up some pics when I get them put on. Thanks for the info.

Just think, if S&W made the grip on the shield just a little beefier, and added some sort of rougher finish, we wouldnt need these stick on grips!
Gotta love the shield for reliability though! I have 1000 rounds of 40 through my one shield, and about 600 through my other. No malfunctions. No wonder it is such a big seller!

I agree the Shield is reliable.

I installed Talon rubber on my Nano which I felt needed it.

I don't feel the same with the Shield. I think the texture is just right even after a day at the range on a hot day.

If a person could invent a spray version they could make some money.

Someone should make a shrink wrap grip. That would work the best! :)
