Talon grip tape for Shield 9?

At least someone on the forum is good with the Search engine.

I bought a package of the rubber variety, about 30 or so rectangles that each are big enough to cover one side of a typical grip panel.

An X-Acto, a little tracing paper and I'm good for 25-30 applications: at the cost of about 1 1/2 Talon grips... The Talons I have purchased in the past are still in very nice condition and don't need to be replaced. It is a good product. I'm just... Thrifty?

Cheers!

I put the sandpaper Talons on my Shield 9. I didn’t care for them. I put a Houge slip on rubber grip on. It had the finger grooves but I ground them off. I shot the gun today and I like it a lot better.

I have two each 9 Shield Plus. I liked the feel of the OEM Shield9 gen1, it was perfect for my hands so I run it stock. The Shield Plus is sandpaper-like and it is abrasive against my waist and I don't like it.

My first one has a Tractiongrips rubber tape (click Amazon link) [ame]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0961J2TWL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1[/ame].

It is actually better than the Talon because it doesn't have gaps after application and just as important there is a small strip to cover the 13 round mag. Perfect for CC, recommended.

I am exploring other options because I like to try new things. I would really like to try a rubberized grip but they seem to be generic slip-ons. It seems like a grip designed to fit the Shield Plus would be superior. I'm also looking for suggestions.

I just purchased a Cal version of the M&P Shield in 9mm. So what if comes with a mag disconnect or the shark fin, at least I can still purchase a new Shield here in this unfriendly 2nd amendment state.

While my pistol is in jail, I was wondering which Talon grip tape texture I should consider purchasing. Rubber or the skateboard tape variety. What say you?
I've got the rubber and I like it. I'm in the People's Republic too. Magazine safety. Used Loctite to put the thumb safety permanently in off position. Roster doesn't require a thumb safety.I carry a Glock 26 a lot too. Uniformity. No thumb safety for me.

If granular is too rough, use sandpaper and smoothe to your liking.
A new texture is available that is between granular and rubber.
I have used all three. They all have their place. Granular can be rough on clothing. Rubber is more slippery with sweaty hands.

Rubber. Hands down! Have them on my M&P 380 Bodyguard (see pic) and
9mm EZ.

+1 for rubber for me. They are really good grip material. BE sure to follow the instructions to the letter. I have had them on my gun for over 3 years, daily carry and they are just now starting to show some wear. Be careful when cleaning to not get solvent, especially the spray blaster cleaners, on the grips as it will weaken the adhesive.

I use the rubber texture only. I’ve installed on three pistols now. I get a couple tests from each install.

My one tip, from experience, is the tiny alcohol pad is really but enough.

I use a bottle of 90% IPA and a couple of clean shop clothes. I usually put in a nitrile gloves, saturate a cloth with IPA and wipe down thoroughly. Repeat again with a clean Cloth. Use the litttle pad for a final wipe.

Surface prep is key. And then use enough heat to set the grips.

If you ever read a complaint about the grips coming off in a short time after install, it was operator error at fault.
