I'm sure it's been discussed many times here before...

but WOW what a difference when I put Talon grips on my Shield 40.

Gives me a great handle on it, less slip when firing, and fits the contours of the gun really well.

If you don't have them already... get them! you won't be sorry.

I also did a TiN coating on the barrel, other than the visual difference, can't say it does much else. Still getting the usual wear/rub mark on the angled part of the top of the barrel. That gold does pop though...

I put Talon grips on my Shield and they lasted all of 3 months before cleaning products dissolved the adhesive holding the grip on. Was worth the cost but I decided I did not want to use something that only lasted a few months. Switched back to the small size Pachmayr rubber sleeve with finger indentations and it works fine.

Just put mine on yesterday. Couldn't agree more on the difference in feel. Love it. I will be careful when cleaning as Grail Knight noted in his post.

For cleaning the grips, alcohol wipes are best. It's what's recommended by Talon. Any other solvents or chemicals would likely eat away at the adhesive.

Another fan, have Talon on both my Shield and Full Size. I use MPro 7 to clean my guns, haven't gotten any on the grips yet to my knowledge. The difference the Talons made is very impressive, the guns really lock into my grip. Using the rubberized version and no issues with them grabbing my shirts either.

I agree the Talons are great without adding any significant bulk to the grip which would, IMO, defeat one of the Shield's best features. Honestly, and with no offense intended, I don't see how you get much 'cleaning product' on the grips. A couple of dabs of Hoppes #9 on a couple of patches, and a few small drops of oil get the job done quite well for me.

I'm on my second set of talons for my shield in a year. I love them. But if this set comes off I'm going to send it again it for a stipple job
