Anybody have the Talon (rubber) grips on the compact models? Was wondering how it addressed the changeable back straps. Do you just have to pick out a back strap size and just kind of make it permanent with the talon? Have it on my shield and love it. Wanted to put one on my 9C.

I have placed talon grips on all of my handguns. Yes you find a blackstrap you are comfortable with and the place the talon grip over it. You could just get the talon strips and avoid covering the blackstrap if you feel the need to change them out.

You are correct. You have to select one of the three backstraps and stay with it. I have it on my compact 9 and love it. I think you could put them on then using an Exacto knife cut through the area where the backstrap separates.

I love the way the rubber Talon grips feel, but they don't work for me. Despite strictly following the directions, they always start peeling off after a few hundred rounds. :-(

I experienced the same thing but solved it by using a small drop of super glue where it started to peel loose. I have not had the problem since.

I have them on several guns, but my M&P full size 9 is doing the same thing as yours. I called Talon and since they are over a year old, they aren't covered by warranty. Doubtful this gun has 200 round through it since I installed them. The guy at Talon said they stay on better when the gun is used and not stuck in a safe.

I asked what I could use to stick these edges back down, and he said nothing because most glues will eat into the polymer frame. He said I need to order another set and gave me a discount code. Although I never ordered them.

I don't believe super glue will harm the polymer. Mine doesn't show any sign of harm at all.

I was offered the same discount, but why would I want to buy them again when nothing has changed???? The Shield version has been redesigned, so I might, MIGHT give them a second chance.

I was shooting mine; they weren't sitting in the safe. The sweat/heat/friction from shooting is what causes them to peel off.

I think I will just learn how to stipple.

Motorsporting, I totally agree which is why I never bothered to order another one. The ones I rarely use that sit in the safe are also perfect.

As far as the full size guns, the back straps that come on the 9L, Core and Performance Center guns are great. Smith should just use that type of back strap on all their guns.

I have them on a Shield also and had the same problem until I put super glue on the loose edge.
