tatoo`s and welfare

For the most part, tattoos are a personal decision. I draw the line at them being done on the face, etc. For the most part, tattoos are simply low class body art. Any supposed beauty is strictly in the vision challenged eye of the beholder. Some tattoos tied in with gang affiliation, etc., should be considered part of a criminal enterprise with the wearer being sentenced to having the tattoo obliterated.

When it comes to welfare, I have mixed feelings. Like any other govt. program, there are those who abuse the system. Exactly the same is true of defense contracts, etc., except it is done at the corporate level on a scale of billions of dollars. Not surprisingly, no one ever gets charged and convicted, unless they are on the wrong political side.

In helping people it is always wise to think before acting. To simply pay a bill for someone may be easier than looking at and evaluating the request, but it may cause more harm than good. I've dealt with folks needed help since beginning my pastoral ministry in 1979. There have been times when I've helped someone only to later find out they had been dishonest. Happily the vast majority of people I've helped have not been frauds. There have been times when dishonest people have had to be confronted in love with the truth. Some have called this harsh. But it is not loving to lie to someone. And there are times when in love one must tell the truth, even if the person seeking help refuses to accept the obvious.
