I've always been a Ford guy but I think the newer Chevy Pick Ups look pretty nice. I've been offered a pretty good deal on a 2014 Chevy 1500 LT double cab with the 4.3 V-6 and 40,000 on the odometer. I'm looking for a bigger truck, I drive a 2010 Ford Ranger XLT. According to the EPA estimate the fuel consumption should be about the same which is a plus but the deal is almost too good. The reviews have a lot of folks saying the truck has a shake or shimmy problem at idle or high speeds. The Ranger has been a reliable truck with 107,000 on the 4.0 V-6 so i know it still has a few years left but at 6' 2" 300 lbs it's cramped. I don't plan on towing anything I just want a nice truck to tool around town in .

Any comments or reviews will be welcome.

You cant go wrong if the price is right. GM trucks with that motor have a problem with a water leak on the drivers side front manifold gasket of the passenger side rear under 100000 miles. I had 2 that did. $500 and better FP gaskets will fix it. That Ford v6 is tough and it will long outlast the transmission. I still have a Blazer and they do 15 mpg in town and 21 hw. The radiator gave up at 60000 and I installed a 180 thermostat which did not change the fuel mileage.

My daily drive is a '10 Silverado. It is my third truck with the 4.3 V 6. 1995 S10, 100K+ miles, one $150 repair, cracked battery ate the wiring. 2003 S10, no repairs 100+K miles. '10 Silverado 75K miles (I drive a lot less these days), 2 thermostats and one master cylinder $600 repairs. Mileage is almost the same with all of them, 20 mpg/ no A/C and 17 with the air on. Ethanol knocks 2 mpg off but I won't spend the $.60/gal to get E-free. I'm brand loyal until I get a reason not to be. Joe

I have had a 4 Silverado’s, a 04 1500, single cab, with the 4.8 V8, a 07 Crew cab 1500 with the 4.8 V8, a 2012 Crew cab 1500 with a 5.3 V8 and my current daily driver a 2015 Crew cab 2500 with a 6.0 V8. My favorite is the 15, it is an awesome truck. It is a High Country package. Chevy redesigned the Silverado in 14 for the 1500 and 15 for the 2500 and 3500. It is a much better truck then the previous design. The only problem that I have had with any of the Silverado’s that I have owned was the transmission grenaded at 52,000 miles in the 2012. This was the one time where the extended warranty paid for itself.

I like my 14’. I have the 5.3 liter motor/crew cab/Z71. 65000 miles and my only real complaint is the recalls. Alright, so it’s not perfect. I’m almost too attached to it to trade it off now. There is a lot of difference between the 13’ and the 14’. I keep telling myself it doesn’t need a lift kit. (Smile)
