Tell me about the Louisville gun show.

We stay with the Patels just across the state line in Indiana. We haven't had our car broken into there yet and they really don't want to come into our room. Jr. and I will be there if we don't get iced out. One or more of our friends will be with us. I'll be spending some time with David Carroll while we're there. Gotta have somewhere to rest in case Burg doesn't get a table. (are you?) I met some really interesting folks at Burg's table in the past. Unfortunately some of them are no longer with us. I've found some really nice stuff at this show in the last several years. I've got the C&R and a copy of my favorite FFL so I can buy most anything there. I like this show more than Tulsa. Less walking and and less junk. I'll be the big guy wearing the hunter orange "Barq's Root Beer" ball cap. Please introduce yourself.

Sorry, Charlie (sounds like a tuna fish commercial). No table this time. We'll be sitting with David Carroll when we're not out trying to steal bargains. David is a good host, and we pay our way by watching his stuff while he's eating and trying to steal bargains himself. The alternate meeting spot is DoubleSharp's table. Usually one group of islands forward and nearer to the front door. He really likes the promoter so he tries to stay right under a loud speaker so he can hear it all.

Ya gonna be signin' autographs again this year?

Hadn't thought of that angle. Can I charge? I was figurin' a better approach would be to sell copies of Charlie's new book. Just give us your name and mailing address, $50, and we'll promise to ship you a copy from the first run! :)

You gonna be there for this one?

OK guys, we got some decent reservations so it looks like I'll be able to attend. I've been to this gunshow twice before, but it has been about 3, maybe 4 years since I was there. I think it is one of the best shows I've ever attended. I haven't been to the Tulsa show so I can't make that comparision. I'll bring my camera just in case I see some of you guys. I'll try and look you up if you'll tell me where to look.

We'll be camping at the table with all the great quality S&Ws. When you stumple along and suddenly you think you died and went to heavn, we'll be sitting in the booth. Honest injun! We'll be the young, well dressed guys....:( OK, we'll be the gray haired old coots carrying a couple of pounds extra. Like somebody once described us, wearing blue jeans and comfortable shirts. Describes about 5,000 of the 10,000 people in the hall.

When you see a guy sitting way up in the air, giving everyone a hard time, it'll be Doublesharp. When you see a guy lying on the floor under him taking a full load of grief, it'll be GF. Charlie and I will be the distinguished gentlemen trying to outrun the Bobcat that's trying to shovel up all the organic fertilizer we're generating. David Carroll will be the skinny younger guy standing there talking out into space. Its really his bluetooth headset, he just looks like he's talking to himself all the time. The guy who keeps coming back with double arm loads of ammo will be my buddy Joe. The guy with the big mustache and hat, who looks like he just rode in on his favorite mule will be Dave Keith. At least he's smiling. If I've failed to offend anyone, I'm sorry.

Bring this back up and talk about it a little more. It'll just be Jr. and me coming up. We had two guys back out on the trip. We're leaving at 6 a.m. and I figure after a little side trip to Anniston we'll still get to the Louisville area before 10 p.m. That depends on how many stores attract us on the way up. We'll do the SOS on Friday and the gun show on Saturday morning. Look for the hunter orange Barq's root beer cap. I'll be the guy under it.

Our plans are changing just a little. Won't impact Saturday and seeing everyone. My wife discovered that if she doesn't take a vacation day, she'll lose it. So Momma is taking Friday off. I called David and asked him how he'd like to pay my way in Friday. He said sure. He gets 2 slave laborers. Momma isn't real good at explaining guns or prices, but she sits and watches. And she'll help unzip gun rugs and put guns on the table.

Better still, she'll help drive me home if/when I get tired.

Then my Saturday plans took a real improvement. Its m son's anniversary. His wife has a full day of other activities that don't include him. So he's been released from duty. So he's driving me down and back! :D Life is good. And he is a super "porter" who carries guns and ammo without complaint! My guess is someday he plans on inheriting it.

The room doesn't open to show goers until Saturday at 9:00 AM. Exhibitors and their helpers are welcome on Friday afternoon and evening. Its when we buy up all the great guns and leave chicken bones for others. its always a good time, unless its a better time.

GF and I will be among the first to arrive Friday and I'll be one of the last to leave Sunday. Usually have 1 table in Row E, 1st section and I use a blue S&W logo table cover and lounge around in a high director's chair. rburg is usually just down the aisle but sometimes things change. South Wing C is my favorite venue but the last few shows have been in S Wing A so the floor plan may change. Dickson is pretty good about keeping his reliable vendors in their same spots but with only 1 table I do get shuffled on occasion.
