Found this Camillus fixed blade knife at Walmart. Ten dollars so why not. Seems okay. Full tang, stainless 440, rubber handle. Going to give it a test run.

Looks good. Keep us informed on your "test run" results.

I bought a Camillus folder for about the same price on someone's advice here on the forum. So far it's holding up very well.

One thing I know. The sheath sucks big time. Cheap and it's difficult to get the knife back in. I don't see it holding up to long.

I'm a sucker for cheap knifes... I don't have to worry about damaging or losing 'em. Some of 'em take a surprisingly nice edge. Wish I knew somebody to put a nice polish to those edges... ;)

I think these were like 10 or 12 bucks apiece... I carry the S&W all the time. Gibbs Rule #9. ;)

My little collection. A CRKT OBAKE, M&P and CASE sodbuster.

That is a Camillus knife in name only. Real Camillus knives were made in Camillus, N.Y. about three miles from my house.

I am partial to my "Bear Gryllis" folder knife.
Also his waist band sheath one also.
One can shave the hair off your arm with one.
Super great steel.

I own many vintage Camilus knives and they are excellent! I would bet the new "Camilus" the OP paid $10 bucks for is a Chinese import but for $10 bucks you can't go wrong! Even if he only uses it mostly for rough work around the house, yard and in the field where hew doesn't want to bang up an expensive knife with a keen edge it is well worth it.

I have an old US Divers Scuba Diving knife that I found under water in the 70's while diving that is Stainless Steel and never holds an edge very long. I use it many many times a month around the yard for digging small holes in the soil for sprinkler heads, around the garage for prying, and abuse the hell out of it which I would NEVER do to a good knife. I don't even bother to properly stone sharpen it and just give it a rough edge on the Grinder.

To me this seems like the perfect kind of knife to use for "rough work" and not have to baby. Just don't expect to use it for any kind of fine cutting, or where a keen long lasting fine edge is required.
