Ab-so-lutely!!! Gotta love Ted Poe. I almost got a chance to serve as a juror on a murder/drug trial in his court one time. To bad the Perp plead out and we got dismissed. He da MAN!!

One time when they didn't have enough jurors show up to fill all the panels they needed he sent out court bailiffs to local lunch counter to "draft" people to come to the court house and serve on a jury. He is the most innovative judge I've ever heard of.

As a former Texan(& hopefully a soon to be again Texan!)it's
nice to know that state government is ready to confront the
potus & his pals on 2nd Amendment rights!

On a brief trip to Texas in the spring of 01 my wife and I visited Gonzales. We left with two copies of "the flag". The smaller decorated the wall of my office until I retired in 2010. Now it is on the wall behind the computer I am on now.

The second is in a shadow box along with the flags (both Texas and American) that flew over the Alamo on my birthday November of 01.

Love the sentiment, the spirit, and the "Texas" of that flag.

Boys,

When I'm back home in Texas.

I sit on the porch of the casa there and can sometimes see the city lights of Fort Worth, a hundred miles away.

I'm an old man....bout all I really want to do is sit on the porch.

I like to take a pinch of Copenhagen and a sip of whiskey of an evening.

Don't bother anyone and don't want to be aggravated none.

Got a single shot rifle and a one eyed dog........And I don't put up with no guff.

Hate to tell ya, but that's been around a long time. It's called "Tales" jurors and we've had to do it a few times-usually when there is an inordinate amount of juror absences for a variety of reasons (exemptions, illness, etc). We now pull a pool of 150 instead of 100 so this problem doesn't come up anymore.

The court still call my wife Penny to serve jury duty. Penny's husband, five sons, son inlaw, and four adopted sons are Law Enforcement Officers. Penny gets excused everytime by the defense lawyers ???

By golly, you gotta love Texas!

Our state is currently trying to pass two great bills into law.

The first says that anybody can carry concealed, loaded or unloaded, without a permit.

The second says that the state isn't going to abide by any federal laws which restrict firearms in any way.

I'm keepin' my fingers crossed that they both pass.

I'm the kinda guy that likes to drive my old pickup into town with my border collie and my coonhound in the bed, with my lever action rifle behind the seat.

May the good Lord bless us that we'll always be able to keep it that way.

Dave, I feel like I'm right there with ya. Texas, Our Texas

Looks like I'll be heading south of the border for a bit, so if you don't mind, slip me into a prayer or two, just to help get me back home to my porch in Texas.
Thanks.

I'm glad to see other states doing it right. PA is pretty good... castle doctrine, legal open carry, shall issue concealed carry... It isn't nearly as bad as other states, but not perfect (no private transfers of handguns except between certain family members).

I'm getting scared being surrounded by New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. And now we have dear old senator Casey talking about more gun laws / bans.
