Does anyone know the Texas fee for a CHL? I am 65, and understand that a reduced fee applies to Seniors.

I checked an advertiser here and their site states only THEIR fee, which is a reasonable $110. But what more is required for the State?

How long is a first time CHL permit valid? Does anyone have recent experience of how long they take to mail the permit after the application is submitted?

Thanks,

officially the wait for a CHL license in Texas is 16 weeks. It is really about that many months. They are rejecting applications multiple times for little or no reason to get them out of their inventory. Good luck.

I believe your first license will be good for around 4 years, your second renewal for 5 years and your 3rd renewal is good for 10 years. I would suggest going to a place that does everything for you like passport photos, and finger printing. Pretty much when you leave they will have your packet ready to be mailed in. DFW gun range in Dallas does an excellent job.
