You can likely obtain ammo if you are in Texas or bordering states by using Texas Gun Trader. It's like Craigslist, but for all things guns, parts, ammo, etc. Some people are obviously gouging, but many are not. I just bought a case of Federal ammo from a local guy for under $300. He was selling off his ammo as he is winnowing down his firearms collection. Plenty of good deals to be had for money or trade. I met the guy in a very public location during daylight hours and was done in 2 minutes.

Ammo:

In gun and sporting goods stores, it's vapor. If you're not at the head of the line when the Truck arrives, you're out of luck. Ammo is available at gun shows but costs a pretty penny.

Guns:

Counters are empty to semi-empty. You can generally find what you want if you keep looking. Prices are up.

I think the majority of firearms enthusiasts are concerned about the ban of online firearms-related items. I've never seen Texas Gun Trader so busy. People are selling and/or trading everything they have. One poor soul was so desperate, he was offering cologne for ammo. I feel genuinely bad for people without the financial means to buy ammo at this time. Like many people on here, I know the winds can change at a moment's notice and have been preparing for a time such as this, and my recent purchase from the guy on TGT was a good deal, so it was difficult to see it and not act on the offer despite not really needing it. The purchase was wife approved and actually encouraged.
Several months ago, my wife was in Academy and while the shelves even 6 months ago were largely empty, she rang me up at work and asked if I wanted ammo, and if so, what caliber and weight. She said the guys were dragging the pallets out onto the floor and there was zero limit. Being considerate, I asked for one box. When I arrived home, the coffee table in my den was stacked with Academy bags filled with ammo. I married a smart woman who is at once generous and also shares my hobbies. I cannot complain.

My question is, can I buy from that market even though I am located in MA?
Are those sellers private or business?
Is it safe?
I saw quite a lot of cheap ammo, and anyone private would ship to me in MA, unlike business they are not shipping to MA (only to FFL)

I live in Texas, but I'm not so desperate for ammo that I would bring a wad of cash to give to a stranger, even in a public location.
